As edge computing continues to be the backbone of digital transformation, it becomes increasingly crucial that we harness its capabilities in a sustainable and economical manner. DFI is unveiling the WL series based on 8th Gen Intel Core processors with 40% power-saving and is more durable than the previous generation. Featuring less power consumption with the same workload is aimed at energy-efficient applications at the edge to maximize IoT deployment in versatile applications e.g. AGV/AMR and IoT gateway.

DFI's WL551 features 8th Generation Intel Core i7/i5/i3 and Celeron 4000 processors, is constructed using the 14nm manufacturing technique. This results in a significant 40% increase in performance compared to the previous generation, allowing for faster processing and detection in machine vision within factory automation. Additionally, these systems are well-suited for power-efficient applications in edge computing, thanks to their integration of up to 4 cores and a low-power TDP of 15W.

In order to meet the current demands in IoT, the WL series comes equipped with improved I/O connections and multiple modern M.2 expansions. Additionally, this series includes the M.2 M-key interface which supports NVMe PCIe x4 SSD, enhancing computing capabilities by increasing storage read and write speeds up to 5 times faster than a traditional SATA 3.0 SSD. This results in high-speed processing and transferring, optimizing the versatility of IoT applications such as consolidating large amounts of data at the edge.

In contrast to other motherboards available on the market that are limited to functioning within a standard temperature range of 0 to 60°C, DFI's WL551 series utilizes innovative technology and a fanless design. This allows it to operate in extreme temperatures ranging from -30 to 80°C, making it suitable for outdoor and temperature-sensitive industries such as factory automation. The motherboard can withstand harsh conditions and handle sudden temperature fluctuations.

The DFI WL551 product series, which now includes Intel 8th generation processors, can provide enhanced 4K video experiences with a maximum resolution of 4096 x 2304. This makes it ideal for applications like facial recognition, object detection, machine vision, and digital signage, where high-quality UHD streaming media is required.
