Industrial Mini PCs

Fanless Industrial Mini PCs for Cabinets, Kiosks and Machines

An industrial mini PC puts a complete industrial computer into a chassis small enough for a control cabinet, a kiosk, a machine housing or the back of a display. Most are fanless, so the case itself carries the heat away and there is no fan to clog with dust or wear out.

Small does not mean short of connections. A small industrial PC still carries serial ports, CAN, isolated digital I/O, several LAN ports and PoE for cameras, with wide-range DC power and M.2 sockets for 4G, 5G and Wi-Fi. Processors run from low-power Atom and N-series chips to Core Ultra, Ryzen AI and Jetson for edge AI.

Each industrial mini computer here is built to run unattended for years in heat, dust and vibration, out of sight inside other equipment or at the far end of a network.

Industrial Mini PC vs Consumer Mini PC vs Full-Size Industrial PC

A small industrial computer is easy to mistake for a consumer mini PC, and easy to overspecify into a full-size industrial PC. The real differences sit in the cooling, the I/O and how long the model stays available, as the comparison below shows.

Choose it when Space is tight and the system has to run unattended for years. It sits on a desk in a clean office and a short life is acceptable. The job needs PCIe cards, a discrete GPU or the fastest socketed processors.

Choose the industrial mini PC when space is tight and the computer must run unattended for years. Step up to a full-size industrial PC when the job needs PCIe cards or a discrete GPU, and keep consumer models for the office.

How to Choose a Mini Industrial PC

A mini industrial PC has fixed ports and little room for heat, so the choice starts with the site rather than the datasheet. Answer these four questions in order and only a handful of series will be left.

Space and Mounting

Measure the free space, including room for cables and air around the fins, then decide how it fixes: DIN rail in a cabinet, a wall bracket on a machine or a VESA plate behind a screen. Low-profile models suit shallow spaces.

Ports Before Processor

List every device it connects to: cameras on PoE, PLCs on serial or CAN, sensors on isolated DIO and the screens it drives. A small chassis rarely takes a PCIe card later, so modular I/O and M.2 options matter.

Processor and Heat

Pick the lowest-power processor that runs the workload: N-series or Atom for gateways and signage, Core or Core Ultra for HMIs and vision, Ryzen AI or Jetson for inference. Check the temperature rating applies to that exact build.

Power and Connectivity

Note the supply on site, usually 12 or 24 V DC, and choose a wide-range input that rides through dips. For remote cabinets and kiosks, add 4G or 5G with dual SIM, Wi-Fi or GPS through the M.2 sockets.

Specs to Check
Operating temperature

A small case has less metal to shed heat, so the rating can fall with a faster processor; check it for the exact build, as wide temperature models start at −40 °C. What Is the Industrial Temperature Range?

Industrial Mini PC Manufacturers We Work With

These are the small form factor and compact industrial computer series we specify most often, picked from each manufacturer’s range for cabinets, kiosks, gateways and machine builds. Each card explains why the series earned its place, so you can compare processors and I/O across brands or ask us for a shortlist.

Industrial Mini PC FAQs

FAQs
What is an industrial mini PC?

An industrial mini PC is a complete industrial computer in a small chassis, built for cabinets, kiosks, machines and the back of a display rather than a desk. It uses industrial-grade components, a wide DC input and, in most cases, fanless cooling, with the serial, CAN, digital I/O and multiple LAN ports that a consumer mini PC leaves out.

Industrial vs consumer mini PCs
Can I use a consumer mini PC in an industrial setting?

For a short trial on a clean bench, perhaps. In a cabinet or on a machine, a consumer mini PC tends to fail early: its fan pulls in dust, its components are rated for an office, it relies on a fragile external adaptor and the model changes within a year. A mini industrial computer is designed for heat, vibration and years of unattended running.

What is a small form factor industrial PC?

It is another name for the same class of system. A small form factor (SFF) industrial PC is built on a compact board instead of a full-size motherboard, so the whole computer takes a fraction of the space. Micro and low-profile industrial PCs sit at the smallest end, often only as tall as their connectors, for shallow cabinets and the space behind a screen.

What is a motherboard form factor?
How powerful can a mini industrial PC be?

More powerful than the size suggests. Data gateways, such as an MQTT gateway feeding a broker, and signage run well on Atom and N-series processors at a few watts, while Core Ultra and 13th or 14th Gen Core handle vision and HMIs. Some small chassis take socketed Core Series 2 processors, and Ryzen AI or Jetson Orin options add tens to hundreds of TOPS for inference. Heat is the limit, so check the temperature rating for the processor you choose.

Are all industrial mini PCs fanless?

Most are, because a sealed fanless case keeps dust out and removes the part most likely to wear. A few higher-power models use a fan sink or an optional fan so a faster processor can hold its speed at higher temperatures. If the site is dusty or the computer is hard to reach, choose a fanless build and size the processor to suit its cooling.

How does a fanless PC work?
Can an industrial mini PC run Linux or Windows?

Yes. Intel and AMD models run Windows 10 IoT Enterprise or Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC as well as Ubuntu and other Linux distributions, and several are certified on Ubuntu LTS releases. Arm models run embedded Linux or Yocto, and Jetson systems run JetPack on Ubuntu. Tell us the operating system and version early, as driver support varies from board to board.

What is embedded Linux?
How do you mount a small industrial computer?

Most clip onto a DIN rail inside a control cabinet or screw to a wall bracket, and many take a VESA plate so they hang behind a monitor or panel PC. Leave space around the fins for air, keep cable runs short and use the screw-lock or terminal-block connectors provided, so vibration cannot work a lead loose over time. Where it shares a 24 V cabinet supply, size the power supply for the PC plus any PoE devices on its ports.

Industrial computer mounting options
Can a mini industrial PC run edge AI?

Yes. Core Ultra and Ryzen AI processors have a built-in NPU for lighter models, Hailo-8 and Hailo-10 M.2 modules add dedicated inference, and Jetson Orin systems run several camera streams at once. Match the TOPS to the model and the number of cameras, and allow for the extra heat that inference adds inside a small chassis.

How many TOPS does an NPU need?
What is the best industrial mini PC for my application?

The best industrial mini PC is the smallest one that has every port your equipment needs and stays within its temperature rating at your site. Start from the space, the devices it connects to and the power available, then choose the processor: often an N-series or Atom for gateways, and Core Ultra, Ryzen AI or Jetson for vision and AI.

Do you offer TAA and NDAA compliant industrial mini PCs?

Yes, on the models where the maker declares it. A number of the small form factor ranges we supply come with TAA and NDAA statements from the manufacturer, and many hold UL or CE safety approvals. We do not offer any of them as Buy American Act compliant or as made in the USA. Give us the clause your contract cites and we will check each candidate’s datasheet before quoting.

What does TAA compliant mean?
Can you supply industrial mini PCs ready to deploy?

Yes. Integration is standard: every industrial mini PC is configured and tested before it ships. Memory, storage and Wi-Fi, 4G or 5G modules are fitted, the operating system is loaded and licensed, your BIOS settings are applied and the DIN rail, wall or VESA bracket is added, so the system goes straight into the cabinet or kiosk.
