Ethernet I/O Modules

Ethernet I/O Modules for Extra Network Ports

Ethernet I/O modules add network ports to a rugged embedded computer for camera links, sensor networks and machine-to-machine traffic in vehicles and industrial equipment.

The range includes a PC/104-Plus module with four 10/100 Ethernet ports and 16 digital I/O lines, and a Gigabit Ethernet PCIe MiniCard for compact hosts, both rated for -40 to +85 °C.

For managed switching between many ports, see our Ethernet switches.

Beyond Ethernet: Data Acquisition and I/O Modules

What to Specify in an Ethernet I/O Module

An Ethernet I/O module adds network ports to an embedded computer, often with digital I/O, through a PC/104 stack or Mini PCIe socket. It suits systems that need separate control and data networks.

Port Speed

Fast Ethernet for control networks and older devices, Gigabit for cameras, data logging and faster links.

Port Count

Single-port Mini PCIe cards add one link; PC/104-Plus modules add four ports for separate networks.

PC/104 or Mini PCIe

PC/104-Plus modules stack on the CPU board; Mini PCIe cards fit compact computers with a free socket.

Digital I/O Alongside

Selected modules add digital I/O lines, so one module covers network and simple control signals.

Temperature Range

Modules are rated from -40 to 85 °C, which suits vehicles, rail equipment and outdoor enclosures.

Drivers and Software

Linux and Windows drivers. Confirm support for your kernel or operating system version before the design is fixed.
