What to Specify in an Analog Capture Card
An analog capture card records HD-TVI, composite and other analog cameras on a computer, which keeps existing camera wiring in service. Channel count and host interface usually decide the choice.
Camera Standard
HD-TVI for newer HD analog cameras, composite for PAL and NTSC cameras. Check the standard on every camera.
Channel Count
Four to sixteen inputs per card for multi-camera recorders, so one card can cover a whole site or vehicle.
Host Interface
PCIe, M.2 or Mini PCIe inside the recorder, or USB for portable capture from a laptop or tablet.
Resolution per Channel
HD-TVI cards typically capture at up to 1080p30 per channel; composite inputs record at PAL or NTSC resolution.
Hardware Encoding
Onboard compression on selected cards records many channels at once without loading the host CPU.
Drivers and SDK
