Arestech PPC-N158R 15″ 5-Wire Resistive Industrial Panel PC with Intel Core i5-8265U and Front IP66 Aluminium Bezel

Machine operators often wear gloves, and a capacitive screen that ignores a gloved finger slows the job down. The PPC-N158R is the 5-wire resistive configuration on the Intel Core i5-8265U in the Arestech PPC-N158 series: a 15 inch fanless industrial panel PC with an aluminium front cover sealed to IP66.

The Intel Core i5-8265U is a quad-core processor running at up to 3.9 GHz, with two DDR4-2400 SO-DIMM sockets for up to 32 GB, plus an M.2 2280 socket with SATA and PCIe x4 and an internal 2.5-inch bay. That suits SCADA and MES clients, dashboards and HMI software with several windows open, with operating system support for Windows 10 IoT and Linux. The display is a 300 nit 4:3 XGA LCD at 1024 x 768 with a 600:1 contrast ratio and 160° viewing angles horizontally and vertically. Resistive touch works by pressure, so it responds to work gloves and a stylus.

Connections include two GbE ports on Intel i219V and i211AT controllers, three RS-232 ports and one RS-232/422/485 port, four USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports, two HDMI 1.4b outputs for a second screen, line-out and mic-in and 8-bit digital I/O. A full-size Mini-PCIe socket with a SIM slot and an M.2 2230 E-key socket for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth take optional 4G and wireless modules. The PPC-N158P is the same build with projected capacitive touch.

Power is 9 to 36 V DC on a two-pin Phoenix terminal block, at 14.7 W typical. The PPC-N158R is fanless and operates from -20 °C to 60 °C at 5 to 95% humidity with extended-temperature memory and storage fitted. It is vibration-tested from 5 to 500 Hz at 2.16 Grms, shock-tested to 20 G under IEC 60068-2-27, measures 386 x 316 x 69 mm, weighs 4.2 kg and mounts in a 346 x 276 mm panel cut-out or on 75 x 75 and 100 x 100 mm VESA.
