01 Marine Applications

Where Marine Computing Is Deployed

Vessels and offshore sites use industrial computers in four main places: the bridge, the engine room, the open deck and the link back to shore. Each has its own approvals, sealing and connectivity needs, so the right form factor differs from one to the next.

ECDIS Bridge Navigation Systems
// Bridge

ECDIS, Radar and Conning Displays

The bridge runs on type-approved equipment. ECDIS chart displays need colour calibration to IEC 61174, and every computer and monitor around the conning position is expected to meet IEC 60945 for EMC and environment, with DNV type approval where the vessel is classed. Marine panel PCs and box PCs with NMEA 0183 ports interface to GPS, AIS, gyro and radar so the same hardware can serve navigation, alarm and monitoring duties.

Built to the Standards Marine Demands

Marine hardware is specified against a small set of standards that cover the electrical environment of a vessel and the approvals a classed ship must carry. We select products whose datasheets state compliance with each one, and say so where a product is designed to a standard rather than type approved.

IEC 60945 Maritime Equipment

EMC, temperature, humidity, vibration and corrosion requirements for navigation and radio communication equipment.

DNV Type Approval

Class approval for electronic equipment on ships, tested to DNV-CG-0339 for the location it is installed in.

IEC 61174 ECDIS

Performance and colour-calibration requirements for electronic chart display and information systems.

IP66, IP67 and IP69K Sealing

Ingress protection for deck and washdown installations, from sealed fronts on panel PCs to fully submersible boxes.

Marine-Ready Hardware

Three product types cover most vessel projects. Open one to see the ranges we specify for marine, or go to the full category.

Ranges in Marine Computers

I330EAC Marine Box PCs
Winmate

I330EAC Marine Box PCs

Compact fanless marine computers with NMEA 0183 ports and digital I/O, designed to IEC 60945 and DNV requirements. Suits navigation and radio equipment interfacing, alarm and monitoring systems and bridge PCs that drive separate marine monitors.

SEMIL Waterproof Half-Rack Computers
Neousys

SEMIL Waterproof Half-Rack Computers

IP67 and IP69K sealed computers with M12 connectors throughout, built to MIL-STD-810 with GPU options, on Intel Core 12th to 14th Gen. Suits open-deck, crane and workboat installations exposed to salt spray, washdown and constant vibration.

AWP Waterproof Box PCs
Neousys

AWP Waterproof Box PCs

IP66 and IP67 waterproof fanless PCs with M12 Ethernet and wide-range DC input, from the compact POC-766AWP to the Nuvo-9650AWP. Suits deck sensors, cameras and gateways mounted outside the wheelhouse without an extra enclosure.

MILBOX Sealed Jetson Computers
Forecr

MILBOX Sealed Jetson Computers

IP67-sealed NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin and AGX Thor computers with circular MIL connectors, for maritime systems that need edge AI in a sealed enclosure. Suits vision, sonar processing and autonomous vessel workloads on deck or in unmanned craft.

SabreCom Rugged Mission Computers
Diamond Systems

SabreCom Rugged Mission Computers

Sealed rugged mission computers on Intel Core i7, designed to MIL-STD-461, 704 and 1275 with IP67 protection. Suits naval and research vessels where a compact conduction-cooled system replaces a cabinet of boards.

An Extension of Your Engineering Team

Our engineers work as part of your team, not as a reseller. We check the I/O, power and thermal fit against your vessel or cabinet before you commit to a build.

Built, Imaged and Ready to Deploy

Modules, memory, storage and cards are fitted and the OS image loaded before shipping, so each unit is tested as a complete build and ready to work on the day it arrives.

Supported for the Life of the Project

Repeatable builds, revision control and last-time-buy planning keep later units matching the first across a fleet programme that can run for a decade or more.
