01 Food and Beverage Applications

Where Food and Beverage Computers Are Deployed

Food and beverage computing sits in four places: the processing line inside the washdown area, the packing and end-of-line station, the inspection point where vision checks the product and the chilled store and despatch dock. Each carries its own sealing, hygiene and temperature demands, so the right platform differs from one to the next.

IP69K Stainless Steel HMIs on the Processing Line

Inside the washdown area, everything on the line is hosed with hot high-pressure water and sanitised between shifts, and a consumer computer in a retrofit enclosure is the first thing to fail. IP69K stainless steel HMIs in 304 or 316 grade, with a flush touchscreen, no exposed fasteners and M12 connectors, take the cleaning regime as part of the day. Our work with food and beverage manufacturers covers hundreds of waterproof HMIs deployed on exactly these lines.

Built to the Standards Food and Beverage Lines Specify

Food and beverage hardware is specified against the cleaning regime, not just the ingress rating on the datasheet. We select products whose sealing, steel grade and connectors match the washdown, the chemicals and the temperature of the area they are installed in, and say clearly where a product is rated for hosing rather than for hot high-pressure jets.

IP69K Washdown Rating

The highest ingress rating: hot water at 80 degrees C sprayed at 80 to 100 bar from 10 to 15 cm, from four angles, for the high-pressure, high-temperature washdown used on food lines.

304 and 316 Grade Stainless Steel

304 grade for general processing areas; 316 grade, with molybdenum added, where brine, acids and chlorinated cleaning chemicals would pit a 304 enclosure.

Hygienic Design

Flush touchscreens, radiused edges, no exposed fasteners and sealed seams, so product residue has nowhere to settle and the enclosure cleans as quickly as the machine around it.

M12 Waterproof Connectors

IP67 screw-lock M12 connectors for power, Ethernet, USB and serial, so there is no open port on the enclosure for water or debris to enter during cleaning.

Gloved and Wet Touch Operation

PCAP touch tuned for gloves and water on the glass, resistive touch where thick gloves are worn, and rain-mode and push-button options where the screen is operated mid-washdown.

Wide Temperature and Condensation

Fanless sealed computers rated for chilled and freezer areas, where a move from the cold store to the warm despatch dock condenses moisture on anything that is not sealed.

Food-and-Beverage-Ready Hardware

Four product types cover most food and beverage projects. Open one to see the ranges we specify for washdown, packing, inspection and cold-store positions, or go to the full category.

An Extension of Your Engineering Team

Our engineers work as part of your team, not as a reseller. We check the cleaning regime, the chemicals and the mounting position against the line before you commit to a build.

Built, Imaged and Ready to Deploy

Memory, storage, modules and M12 cable sets are fitted and the OS image loaded before shipping, so each unit is tested as a complete build and arrives ready to mount on the line.

Supported for the Life of the Line

Repeatable builds, revision control and last-time-buy planning keep later units matching the first across a line's operating life, so a replacement HMI drops in without requalification.
