Recipe screens, batch records and line overviews are easier to read on a large screen, but on a washdown line a large screen also means a large sealed enclosure. The PPC-Z248PW-B6A1 is Arestech’s 23.8 inch stainless steel panel PC: a full HD PCAP computer on an Intel Core i5-8265U in 316 grade stainless steel with a completely flat front, sealed to IP66 and IP69K as a whole unit.

The Intel Core i5-8265U is a quad-core processor running at up to 3.9 GHz, with two DDR4-2400 SO-DIMM sockets for up to 32 GB and an M.2 2280 socket with PCIe x4 or SATA, which suits line overviews, recipe management and batch records, with operating system support for Windows 10 IoT or Professional and Linux. The display is a 23.8 inch 16:9 full HD LCD at 1920 x 1080 and 250 nits with a 3000:1 contrast ratio and 178° viewing angles, and the projected capacitive touch screen has a 7 Mohs surface, 90% transparency and a touch on/off button so it can be cleaned without registering input.

Connections include two GbE ports on Intel i219V and i211AT controllers, two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports and one RS-232 and one RS-232/422/485 port on M12 connectors, with an HDMI 1.4b output on an IP67 connector. A full-size Mini-PCIe socket with a SIM slot and an M.2 2230 E-key socket for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth take optional wireless modules with IP66 antennas. Within the same stainless family, the PPC-Z217 offers a 21.5 inch full HD screen on Intel Core i5-7200U or i3-7100U.

Power is 9 to 36 V DC on an M12 connector with AT and ATX modes. The PPC-Z248PW-B6A1 is fanless, operates from -20 °C to 50 °C at 5 to 95% humidity with extended-temperature memory and storage fitted, and is shock-tested to 20 G under IEC 60068-2-27. It measures 611.4 x 380.8 x 81.3 mm, weighs 15 kg and mounts on 100 x 100 and 200 x 100 mm VESA.
