TPM-3212P Overview

Kiosk users and machine operators expect a touch screen to respond like a phone, with a light tap rather than a firm press. The TPM-3212P is the projected capacitive configuration in the Arestech TPM-3212 series: a 12.1 inch industrial touch monitor with PCAP multi-touch, a 450 nit XGA LCD and IP54 ingress protection for panel mounting.

The PCAP touch screen has a 7 Mohs surface hardness and 90% transparency and connects to the host over USB. Underneath is a 4:3 XGA LCD at 1024 x 768 with a 700:1 contrast ratio and 160° viewing angles horizontally and vertically, which suits embedded HMI displays and kiosk software built for tap and swipe gestures.

The TPM-3212P takes a single VGA input, so it pairs with controllers, industrial PCs and kiosk computers that have an analogue video output. Power is 12 to 24 V DC from a single source on a two-pin Phoenix terminal block, drawing 6.8 W typical. Where operators wear gloves, or the controller expects a serial touch interface, the TPM-3212R offers 5-wire resistive touch over USB or RS-232.

The TPM-3212P measures 319.6 x 253.6 x 37.6 mm, weighs 2.63 kg and fits a 301 x 235 mm panel cut-out, with 75 x 75 and 100 x 100 mm VESA holes as an alternative. It operates from -20 °C to 60 °C at 5 to 95% humidity and is vibration-tested from 5 to 500 Hz at 2.16 Grms, and the IP54 rating protects it against dust and splashing water. Arestech names embedded HMI displays, factory automation, ATMs and self-service kiosks, and vending and ticketing machines as the target applications.

Official Arestech UK Distributor

Things Embedded is an official Arestech UK distributor, supplying the TPM-3212P configured and tested for UK machine builders and kiosk integrators. Within the Arestech range the TPM-3215 offers the same build at 15 inches, and the DM-112P/VM-2100 adds DVI and DisplayPort inputs with a front IP65 bezel.

With PCAP touch the TPM-3212P sits among our capacitive touch screen monitors, our industrial panel mount monitors and our 12" industrial monitors. Where a kiosk or machine needs light bare-finger touch on a VGA feed, this is the TPM-3212 configuration to specify.
