Avalue EPX-APLP Intel Apollo Lake 2.5" Pico-ITX SBCs with Dual 2.5GbE and Triple Display

The Avalue EPX-APLP series is a family of 2.5" Pico-ITX SBCs on Intel Celeron Apollo Lake processors, the dual-core N3350 and the quad-core J3455. Each 100 x 72 mm board carries dual 2.5GbE on Intel I226LM controllers, three displays from DP++, HDMI and dual-channel LVDS, M.2 sockets for an SSD, cellular modem and Wi-Fi, and 12 V DC input. The EPX-APLP series suits digital signage, kiosks, compact HMIs and light industrial controllers.

  • Intel Celeron Apollo Lake: Dual-core N3350 at 6 W or quad-core J3455 at 10 W, both with integrated Intel graphics for three independent displays.
  • 2.5″ Pico-ITX at 100 x 72 mm: A compact board for kiosks, signage players and small HMIs where enclosure space is the first constraint on the design.
  • Dual 2.5GbE: Two RJ45 ports on Intel I226LM controllers separate a local device network from the site uplink without an add-in card.
  • Triple Display: DP++ at up to 4096 x 2160, HDMI and dual-channel 18/24-bit LVDS drive three screens from one board.
  • M.2, SATA and 12 V DC: An M.2 B-key socket with SIM for an SSD or modem, M.2 E-key for Wi-Fi, one SATA III port and 12 V DC input.

EPX-APLP Description

Signage players, kiosk controllers and compact HMIs are often built into housings with space for little more than the display and a small board. The Avalue EPX-APLP series fits that brief: 2.5″ Pico-ITX SBCs measuring 100 x 72 mm, built on Intel Celeron processors from the Apollo Lake family. Both boards drive three displays, carry two 2.5GbE ports and run from a single 12 V DC supply, which keeps the power design inside the enclosure simple.

Apollo Lake is a mature, low-power Intel architecture, and on the EPX-APLP it is paired with one 204-pin DDR3L 1600 MHz SO-DIMM slot for up to 8 GB. Integrated Intel graphics feed a DP++ output at up to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz, HDMI at up to 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz and an internal dual-channel 18/24-bit LVDS connector for panels up to 1920 x 1080. A hardware watchdog, Realtek ALC888S audio with an onboard 2 W stereo amplifier and an AMI BIOS with AT or ATX power modes complete the board.

Two processors set the range. The EPX-APLP-3350-B1R uses the dual-core Celeron N3350 at up to 2.4 GHz within a 6 W TDP, the lower-heat choice for single-screen signage and simple control software. The EPX-APLP-3455-B1R moves to the quad-core Celeron J3455 at up to 2.3 GHz and 10 W, giving more headroom for multi-display content, browser-based HMIs or several services running together. I/O, memory and temperature rating are identical, so the decision is compute against power budget.

Rear I/O on both boards includes two RJ45 ports on Intel I226LM 2.5GbE controllers, two USB 3.0 Type-A ports, DP++ and HDMI, with a lockable 12 V DC jack. Internal headers add four USB 2.0 ports, one RS-232 port and 8-bit GPIO. An M.2 B-key socket in 2242, 2260 or 3042 size carries PCIe x1, USB 3.0 and SATA signals with a SIM slot, so it takes either an SSD or a cellular modem, and an M.2 E-key 2230 socket takes a Wi-Fi module. One SATA III port with its own power connector adds a 2.5″ drive.

The EPX-APLP series operates from 0 to 60 °C in 10 to 95% non-condensing humidity and weighs 0.3 kg. That suits indoor cabinets, retail fixtures, building controls and light industrial machines, where a small board, a single DC rail and three display outputs matter more than an extended temperature rating.

Official Avalue UK Distributor

Things Embedded is an official Avalue UK distributor, supplying the EPX-APLP series configured with memory, M.2 storage, wireless modules and your OS image, fitted with the right cooling and tested before it ships. For a newer processor on the same 100 x 72 mm footprint, the EPX-EHLP moves to Intel Elkhart Lake, the EPX-ASLP offers an Intel N97 or an extended-temperature Atom x7433RE with DDR5, and the EPX-TWLP brings Intel Twin Lake N150 and N250 processors. If the enclosure has room for a larger board, the EMX-APLP carries the Celeron J3455 on Thin Mini-ITX. We can advise on processor choice, panel interface and cabling, wireless modules and lifecycle planning for long-running deployments.

Compare the EPX-APLP with our other Pico-ITX boards and Intel single board computers, or browse the wider range of industrial motherboards. Speak to our team about the display, the enclosure and how long the design needs to stay in production, and we will recommend the build that fits.
