Axiomtek RSC100 NXP i.MX 8QuadMax Hailo-8 Fanless AI Edge Box PC with 26 TOPS and Dual GbE

Edge analytics on a vehicle or at a roadside often needs more than vision: the computer has to talk to CAN controllers and serial devices too, and do it on low power. The RSC100 is an AI edge box PC from Axiomtek that combines an Arm processor, a Hailo-8 accelerator and that kind of industrial I/O in a 45 mm tall fanless housing.

The NXP i.MX 8QuadMax runs the Linux system and application with 4GB of LPDDR4 on board, while the Hailo-8 accelerator provides up to 26 TOPS for neural network inference. Splitting the work this way keeps power low and lets one unit run detection on camera or lidar data while handling vehicle messages. The AI edge box PC runs Yocto Linux 3.0.

Two GbE ports connect GigE cameras, lidar or the network, and two CAN bus ports and two RS-232/422/485 ports connect vehicle and industrial equipment. Four digital inputs and four digital outputs, a console port, two USB 2.0 ports and an HDMI 2.0 output at 4K complete the I/O. The RSC100 stores data on 16GB of on-board eMMC, an M.2 Key M 2280 SATA SSD and a microSD card, and takes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE or 5G through two full-size Mini Card slots and an M.2 Key B 3052 slot with a SIM socket, served by the SMA antenna connectors.

Power is 12 V DC with over-voltage, over-current and reverse protection on the adapter. The RSC100 runs fanless from -20 to 70 °C with 3 Grms vibration endurance with M.2, has dual watchdog timers, and carries CE and FCC Class A marking in a 200 x 150 x 45 mm, 2.1 kg unit. For an x86 alternative with the same accelerator, the RSC101 series uses an Intel Celeron J6413.
