Forecr RAIBOARD-AGX NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin Railway Carrier Boards with 10GbE and IP67 Connectors

Railway equipment designers often build their own enclosure to fit a cabinet, an under-seat bay or a trackside housing, and they still want the connectors and expansion of a finished railway computer. The Forecr RAIBOARD-AGX series is a railway carrier board for the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin that provides them, and it is the board inside Forecr’s RAIBOX-AGX computers, which Forecr designs with that enclosure to meet EN 50155, EN 45545-2 HL3, EN 61373, EN 60068 and IP67.

The board edge carries IP67-rated connectors: one USB 3.0 Type-C port that also serves for recovery, three USB 3.0 Type-A ports and an HDMI 2.0 output at up to 3840 x 2160. Field wiring uses locking Molex Dura-Clik connectors for a Gigabit Ethernet port, a 10G Ethernet port that also runs at 1G, two CAN bus ports, two software-selectable RS-232/422/485 ports and four digital inputs with four digital outputs on an isolated ground. Expansion is where the RAIBOARD-AGX stands out: two M.2 Key-M 2280 slots for PCIe x4 NVMe SSDs, two M.2 Key-B 3042 sockets with their own nano-SIMs for LTE or 5G modems, and an M.2 Key-E 2230 socket for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Cameras connect through a 120-pin Samtec CSI connector for up to six CSI cameras, and Forecr offers expansion options for GMSL or FPD-Link cameras rather than putting them on the board.

The series has three variants, one per module we fit. The RAIBOARD-AGX-32GB carries the Jetson AGX Orin 32GB at 200 TOPS and the RAIBOARD-AGX-64GB carries the 64GB module at 275 TOPS, both rated from -25 to +85 °C. The RAIBOARD-AGX-IND carries the Jetson AGX Orin Industrial, and Forecr’s manual rates the board from -40 to +85 °C with that module.

Power is 12-30 V DC on a six-pin Molex Micro-Fit connector. The board adds an accelerometer, a temperature sensor, an EEPROM, an RTC, a fan connector and an expansion connector for UART, SPI, I2C and I2S, and Forecr lists Ubuntu 20.04 and 22.04 with JetPack 5.x and 6.x.
