Sintrones VBOX-3631-M12X Intel Wildcat Lake Rugged Edge AI Computer with M12 LAN and 2x CAN FD

Mobile machinery and road vehicles shake connectors loose over time, and a lost Ethernet link on an AI camera node usually means a site visit. The Sintrones VBOX-3631-M12X uses screw-locking M12 X-coded connectors for its three LAN ports and an M12 K-coded connector for its DC input. It is the M12 build of the VBOX-3631 series, a rugged edge AI computer on Intel Core Series 3 with a built-in NPU, and it is available to order.

Compute options are the Core 7 350 (up to 4.8 GHz) and Core 5 320 (up to 4.6 GHz), with two P-cores and four low-power E-cores, and the Core 3 304 (up to 4.3 GHz) with one P-core and four low-power E-cores. All are Wildcat Lake processors with Intel Graphics and an NPU, which can run vision and sensor models on the device. Memory is one DDR5-6400 SO-DIMM up to 64 GB with In-Band ECC, and a TPM 2.0 compliant with FIPS 140-3 is on board.

On the VBOX-3631-M12X the M12 LAN ports are one Intel I226-LM 2.5GbE and two GbE. The rest of the I/O matches the RJ45 build: two RS-232/422/485 ports, two CAN FD ports, two USB 3.2 and two USB 2.0 ports, six digital inputs, four digital outputs and one isolated output, HDMI, single-link DVI-D and a USB Type-C DisplayPort output. Two M.2 Key B sockets with dual nano SIM take optional 5G or LTE, an M.2 Key E socket takes optional Wi-Fi, and two M.2 2280 sockets take NVMe SSDs. We supply it configured and tested, with memory, storage, the OS image, modems and antennas fitted.

Input range is 9 to 60 V DC with ignition detection and over-current, over-voltage, surge and reverse polarity protection. The computer runs fanless from -40 °C to 70 °C with 0.6 m/s airflow in a 250 x 160 x 55 mm aluminium case rated IP40, wall-mounted, with MIL-STD-810H vibration and shock ratings and CE, FCC Class A, UKCA and E-Mark listed. The VBOX-3631 keeps five RJ45 ports, and the VBOX-3650-M12X brings M12 LAN to Core Ultra Series 3.
