Defence programmes often need server-class compute in a rack that will survive shock, vibration and electrical noise without commercial connectors working loose. The SV500S-ML is Winmate’s 2U defence rack server built for that job, with a 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processor and defence-grade MIL-DTL-38999 connectors for power input and all I/O.
The single-socket Xeon Scalable processor takes up to eight RDIMM modules of DDR4-3200, which leaves room for virtualised workloads, sensor data handling and secure storage in one chassis. Storage is on removable 2.5″ drives, so drives can be removed and secured when a system is stood down, and the server supports a DVD RW drive. Winmate lists RedHat Enterprise Linux 7.3 (64-bit) as the operating system, and a 4.3″ information display on the front shows system status at the rack.
Connections are all on MIL-type connectors: two Gigabit Ethernet ports, two USB 2.0 ports, one RS-232 port, and VGA, DVI and HDMI video outputs. Within the Winmate range the IAD7T-RK2U is a 2U rackmount server with 14th Gen Intel Core processors and an optional NVIDIA RTX GPU, and the OMIVEAC-IAD7T is a fanless 2U rack server with an Intel Core i7-14700T and a wide temperature range.
The SV500S-ML is fan cooled and fits a standard 19″ rack in 2U. A redundant 600 W supply covers a single module failure, and Winmate lists compliance with MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461, with shock and vibration tested to MIL-STD-810G. It carries CE and FCC marks.
