PCI ExpressSC300N1-L Overview
Plenty of working equipment still outputs analogue composite or S-Video, and it has to be captured without replacing the source. The SC300N1-L is Yuan’s PCIe Analogue video capture card for one composite or S-Video input at D1 resolution, with stereo audio. It suits bringing an analogue camera or legacy video output into a PC for viewing, recording or streaming.
The card captures NTSC at 720 x 480 and PAL at 720 x 576, at 30 or 25 fps, with smaller sizes down to 320 x 240 or 320 x 288 available for lower bandwidth recording. Yuan lists RGB24, RGB32, YUY2, YV12 and NV12 capture formats, and on-card cropping, scaling, auto signal detection and deinterlacing. Two RCA connectors carry left and right audio, captured as 16-bit stereo at 48 kHz.
The card fits a PCIe x1 slot, and Yuan lists support for multiple instances and multiple devices in one host. DirectShow and V4L2 drivers let vMix, OBS, Zoom, Skype, Teams, Discord, Slack, Cisco Webex and GoToMeeting use it as a video source, and Yuan’s Windows and Linux SDK covers custom capture software. The SC350N1-L 3D adds a 3D Y/C comb filter for a cleaner composite picture, and the SC330N4 captures four composite sources on one card.
Yuan lists Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, Linux 2.6.14 or higher in 32-bit and 64-bit builds, Linux on ARM, and NVIDIA Jetson TX2, Nano, AGX Xavier and Xavier NX, so the card can sit in an x86 PC or feed an ARM or Jetson based system. The board measures 83.16 x 68.91 mm. Yuan does not state an operating temperature range on its model page, so ask us where the card will run in a hot cabinet.
