SKY-641E3 Overview
Some GPU workloads lean as hard on the CPU and storage as they do on the accelerators, such as data preparation, retrieval pipelines and mixed simulation and inference. The Advantech SKY-641E3 is a 4U rackmount GPU server that pairs two AMD EPYC processors with up to four double-width GPUs, ten full-length PCIe slots and eight U.2 NVMe drives in a 650 mm deep chassis.
It supports AMD EPYC 9004 and 9005 processors up to 400 W, with up to 160 cores per socket, and 24 DDR5 RDIMM slots for 3 TB of memory at 128 GB per slot. The datasheet lists DDR5-5600 RDIMM, and the ordering table lists DDR5-6400 RDIMM and MRDIMM, so memory speed depends on the processor generation fitted. An ASPEED AST2600 BMC provides IPMI 2.0 and Redfish management with iKVM, on a shared or dedicated LAN port.
A PCIe switch board provides ten full-length PCIe 4.0 x16 slots, taking up to four double-width GPUs at 350 W each, plus two PCIe 5.0 x8 slots and an OCP 3.0 PCIe 5.0 x16 slot for a high-speed network card. Storage is eight hot-swap 2.5-inch U.2 NVMe bays and two M.2 2280 NVMe slots. Networking is two 10GbE and two GbE ports, one shared for management, with an RJ45 serial console port, VGA at the front and rear, and USB 3.0 and USB 2.0.
Power is a 2700 W 1+1 redundant CRPS supply, with eight system fans under smart fan control. The SKY-641E3 is rated 0 to 35 °C, weighs 30 kg, lists CE, FCC, CB and UL certification and supports CentOS, Red Hat, Ubuntu and Windows Server, so this rackmount GPU server belongs in a server room or data centre rack. For Intel Xeon in 2U, see the SKY-620V3 and SKY-622G4.
