Antaira LMX-2812G-4X8S 28-Port 10G Managed Rackmount Industrial Switches with 4x 10G SFP+, 8x SFP and Extended Temperature Options

Industrial cores rarely see only copper. Gigabit fibre comes in from remote cabinets, copper comes in from the floor, and both need to leave on a faster uplink. The Antaira LMX-2812G-4X8S series is a family of Layer 3 managed rackmount industrial switches that takes all three in one fanless unit: 16 copper ports, eight 1G fibre slots and four 10G SFP+ slots.

Each LMX-2812G-4X8S has 16 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ45 ports, eight 1G SFP slots and four 1G/2.5G/10G SFP+ slots, all taking single-mode or multi-mode transceivers, switching store-and-forward on a 128 Gbps fabric with a 32K MAC table and 10K jumbo frames. Layer 3 routing covers static routes, OSPFv2/v3, RIPv2/RIPng and VRRPv2/v3, with ARP, NAT and DHCP option 82, so the switch can route between VLANs and subnets and share a gateway with a second unit. The firmware also covers VLAN, QoS with DSCP, IGMP and MLD snooping, LACP, LLDP, sFlow, RMON, DDMI and Modbus TCP, with RADIUS, TACACS+, 802.1X, ACLs, IP source guard, DHCP snooping, ARP inspection, SNMP v3, HTTPS and SSHv2 securing access. ITU-T G.8032 ERPS handles ring redundancy, with STP, RSTP and MSTP for other layouts.

The series offers two temperature grades. The LMX-2812G-4X8S is the standard build, rated -10 °C to 65 °C for heated cabinets and equipment rooms, and the LMX-2812G-4X8S-T is the extended temperature build, rated -40 °C to 75 °C for unheated rack enclosures. Both draw 38.5 W from redundant 12 to 48 V DC inputs. Both builds run the same firmware, so one configuration can be saved and restored over USB across a mixed site, and dual image protection keeps a fallback copy of the firmware if an upgrade is interrupted.

The fanless IP30 metal housing mounts in a 19-inch rack, with overload, reverse polarity and high EFT and ESD protection, a 24 V DC, 1 A relay and an RS232 console in RJ45. Antaira lists UL 61010-1, UL Class 1 Division 2, CE and FCC, RoHS compliance and TAA and NDAA compliance for the LMX-2812G-4X8S series, quotes an MTBF of 195,505 hours and covers it with a 5-year warranty. Antaira describes the series as designed to withstand harsh and extreme environment conditions, and in practice the fanless DC design suits industrial rack cabinets where a cooling fan or a mains supply is not wanted.
