ASRock Industrial iEP-9012E Intel Core i3/i5/i7/i9 Alder Lake Fanless Industrial Computer with 4x 2.5GbE incl. 2x PoE

A line-side recorder or data logger usually needs a handful of drives and serial ports more than it needs top-end compute, and it has to cope with cold starts and an unsteady DC supply. The ASRock Industrial iEP-9012E is a fanless industrial computer for that role, with four 2.5-inch drive trays, six COM ports and 4x 2.5GbE in a 202 x 244 x 108.7 mm case.

It runs 12th Gen Intel Core, Pentium or Celeron processors in an LGA 1700 socket on the Intel H610 chipset, with two DDR4 2933 SO-DIMM sockets for up to 64 GB. Intel UHD graphics drives DisplayPort 1.4a and HDMI 2.0b at up to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz, plus VGA, for a local HMI or monitoring screen. Windows 10 and Linux are supported, with Intel TCC and TSN under Yocto.

Networking on the iEP-9012E is four Intel 2.5GbE ports, two supplying IEEE 802.3af PoE at up to 15.4 W per port. Two USB 3.2 Gen2, two USB 3.2 Gen1 and two USB 2.0 ports, four RS-232/422/485 and two RS-232 ports and 8 DI/8 DO cover field devices. Storage is four SATA3 ports behind four 2.5-inch trays plus an optional CFast socket. Two mini PCIe slots, an M.2 Key B socket for 4G or 5G, an M.2 Key E socket for Wi-Fi, two nano SIM slots and eight SMA holes cover wireless links.

Power is 9 to 36 V DC with 13-mode ignition control, a remote power switch and 80 V surge, OVP, UVP, OCP and reverse protection. With a 35 W processor this fanless industrial computer operates from -40 °C to 70 °C, or -40 °C to 50 °C with 46 W to 65 W processors, with 0.5 to 0.8 m/s airflow. ASRock Industrial rates the iEP-9012E for 50 G shock and 5 Grms vibration, and it meets CE and FCC Class A with desk mounting. The iEP-9010E moves to R680E with 5x 2.5GbE, NVMe and up to 128 GB.
