Avalue ECM-EHL3-X25RE-A1R 3.5″ SBC with Intel Atom x6425RE, Three LAN Ports and Six Serial Ports

A line-side controller or gateway often has to sit on more than one network and still talk to a row of serial devices, from a small board and a DC supply. The ECM-EHL3-X25RE-A1R is the Atom x6425RE build in the Avalue ECM-EHL3 series: a 3.5 inch SBC, also called a 3.5 inch motherboard, measuring 146 x 101 mm with the processor soldered on the bottom layer.

The Intel Atom x6425RE has 1.5 MB cache, from the Elkhart Lake family rated at 4.5 to 12 W. One 260-pin SO-DIMM socket takes up to 32 GB of DDR4-3200. Intel UHD Graphics drive two DP++ outputs to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz and a dual-channel 18/24-bit LVDS at 1920 x 1080, which switches to eDP 1.3 when needed, for up to three displays at once. A Realtek ALC888S codec with a 3 W amplifier handles audio.

I/O covers one 2.5GbE port on an Intel I226LM and two Gigabit Ethernet ports on Intel I210AT controllers, two USB 3.1 Gen2 and two USB 2.0 ports at the edge plus four USB 2.0 on headers, two RS-232/422/485 and four RS-232 ports, and 8-bit GPIO. An M.2 E key (2230) takes Wi-Fi, an M.2 B key with SIM slot takes WWAN plus GNSS or an SSD, an M.2 M key (2260) adds a PCIe x1 device, and a SATA III port takes a drive. TPM 2.0 is on board. The ECM-EHL3-X13E-A1R is the same board with an Atom x6413E at up to 3.0 GHz, and the ECM-EHL-X25RE-A1R keeps the x6425RE with HDMI, two LAN ports and four COM ports.

Power is 9 to 36 V DC with AT and ATX modes, AT by default, so the board runs from 12 V or 24 V supplies. It operates from 0 to 60 °C with 0.5 m/s airflow and stores from -40 to 75 °C. The board weighs 0.2 kg, supports Windows 10 and Linux, and carries CE and FCC Class B marks.
