Axiomtek AX92320 Two and Four Port Gigabit PoE Frame Grabber Cards for PCI Express

The Axiomtek AX92320 series is a family of PoE frame grabber cards with two or four Gigabit RJ45 ports, each on its own Intel i210-AT controller. Each port delivers IEEE 802.3at PoE at up to 30 W, with up to 120 W in total through a 6-pin ATX connector, on a PCI Express x4 interface. The series suits machine vision and surveillance systems.

  • Gigabit PoE Ports: Two or four independent 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports, each on its own Intel i210-AT controller.
  • IEEE 802.3at PoE: Up to 30 W at 54 V DC per port, with overload protection on the PoE output.
  • Up to 120 W Total: 20 W of PoE from the PCIe slot alone, or 120 W with the 6-pin ATX power connector at 12 or 24 V DC.
  • IEEE 1588 and Jumbo Frames: 9.5KB jumbo frames and IEEE 1588 for large image packets and time-aligned capture.
  • PoE Management: Power management software and smart on/off per LAN port for remote camera restarts.

AX92320 Description

Machine vision cells and surveillance systems run GigE cameras that need data and power, and separate injectors add wiring and points of failure. The Axiomtek AX92320 series answers with PoE cards that Axiomtek calls GigE frame grabber cards, fitting the PCI Express slot of a multi-channel vision control system. Axiomtek states the design cuts cost, simplifies installation and lowers maintenance, and we specify these cards for the vision systems we build and supply.

Both builds share one architecture. Every port is an independent Gigabit PoE port on an 8-pin RJ45 connector, with its own Intel i210-AT controller at 10/100/1000 Mbps. The controllers support 9.5KB jumbo frames and IEEE 1588, and the host interface is PCI Express x4. Each port is IEEE 802.3at compliant and delivers up to 30 W at 54 V DC. From the PCIe slot alone the card supplies up to 20 W of PoE in total; the 6-pin ATX power connector raises the total to 120 W. PoE power management software and smart on/off for each LAN port handle remote camera restarts, and the PoE output has overload protection.

The two variants differ only in port count. The AX92320-2GbE carries two Gigabit PoE ports for a pair of cameras, where slot power or the ATX input covers the load. The AX92320-4GbE carries four Gigabit PoE ports on the same 168 x 111 mm board, and four full-power cameras need the ATX input for the 120 W budget. Both use the same controllers, software and power options, so a design can grow from two cameras to four without changing drivers or cabling type.

The ATX connector takes 12 V DC or 24 V DC, drawing 12 A at 12 V or 6 A at 24 V. The cards operate from 0 to +60 °C with air flow across the heat sink and store from -20 to +80 °C, at 10 to 95% humidity, non-condensing. Axiomtek lists Windows 7 and 10 (32/64-bit) support, and offers a PoE power cable for its IPC962, IPC964 and IPC974 systems and a 6-pin ATX to Molex 4-pin cable. Axiomtek names machine vision and surveillance as the target applications, and the wide operating range suits most factory and cabinet installs.

Official Axiomtek UK Distributor

Things Embedded is an official Axiomtek UK distributor, supplying the AX92320 series for UK machine vision and surveillance programmes. Within the Axiomtek range the AX92325 series carries the same PoE rating on M12 X-coded connectors, and the AX92324 series moves to two 10GbE ports with optional PoE.

The AX92320 series sits among our PoE PCIe cards, our machine vision frame grabbers and our PCIe expansion cards. Where two or four GigE cameras need power and data over RJ45 from a single slot, this is the Axiomtek series to specify.
