Axiomtek AX92325 Two and Four Port Gigabit PCIe LAN and PoE Cards With M12 Connectors

Cameras on vehicles, robots and vibrating machinery need connectors that lock, and RJ45 plugs can work loose. The Axiomtek AX92325 series answers with Gigabit cards that use M12 X-coded connectors, in PoE and non-PoE builds. Axiomtek designed the series for machine vision and surveillance systems and states it integrates with its industrial PCs, ATX motherboards and embedded systems. We specify these cards for the industrial PCs and vision systems we build and supply.

All four builds share one design. Each port is an independent Gigabit port on an M12 X-coded connector, with its own Intel i210-AT controller at 10/100/1000 Mbps, supporting 9.5KB jumbo frames and IEEE 1588. Axiomtek’s patented connector design (Patent No. I787783) keeps the M12 connectors from taking up the space of other slots. The host interface is PCI Express x4. On PoE builds each port is IEEE 802.3at compliant at up to 30 W at 54 V DC, with PoE power management software and smart on/off per LAN port.

The builds differ by port count and PoE. The AX92325-2PoE carries two PoE ports and the AX92325-4PoE four, with total PoE output of 20 W from the slot, 60 W with the 4-pin Molex connector or 120 W with the 6-pin ATX power connector. The AX92325-2GbE and AX92325-4GbE carry two or four M12 ports without PoE, for devices with their own supply. All share the same controllers, board and connector layout, so moving between them keeps the cabling type. A design can start with non-PoE ports for externally powered devices and move to a PoE build when cameras should draw power from the host.

On PoE builds the ATX connector takes 12 V DC or 24 V DC, drawing 12 A at 12 V or 6 A at 24 V, and the PoE output has overload protection. The cards operate from 0 to +60 °C with air flow and store from -20 to +80 °C, at 10 to 95% humidity, non-condensing. Each board measures 168 x 111 mm, with Windows 7 and 10 (32/64-bit) support. Axiomtek names machine vision and surveillance systems as the target applications, and lists a 6-pin ATX to Molex 4-pin power cable as an accessory for the series.
