Most fleet telematics starts with the vehicle network: engine hours, fuel use, faults and speed, all carried on the CAN bus. Processing comes from the Intel Atom x5-E3930, a dual-core Apollo Lake part at 1.3 GHz with a 6.5 W TDP. In practice that suits CAN decoding, local logging, simple rules and LTE forwarding in a sealed fanless box with no moving parts. One DDR3L-1600 SO-DIMM slot takes up to 8GB, TPM 2.0 protects keys and certificates, and the rugged in-vehicle computer runs Windows 10 64-bit or Linux.

The CAN 2.0 A/B port sits beside two Intel I210-AT GbE ports for a camera, a router or a driver display, a VGA output up to 1920 x 1200, two USB 2.0 ports and a DB9 8-bit programmable DIO. A full-size Mini Card slot with a SIM socket takes an LTE module, and the UST200-83H-FL-E3930-CAN-TVDC stores logs on a half-size mSATA drive.

Smart ignition on the 12 or 24 V DC terminal block input handles start-up and shutdown delays and protects the battery at low voltage, with ISO 7637-2 pulse protection on the vehicle version.
