DFI ASL171-CT-x7433RE Quad-Core Intel Atom x7433RE Industrial Mini-ITX Motherboard with Dual 2.5GbE and -40 to 85 °C

Plenty of HMI upgrades start with a panel that still has a VGA monitor in it and an operator who does not want it replaced. The ASL171-CT-x7433RE is the quad-core build in the DFI ASL171 series of Mini-ITX boards, and it keeps a VGA output on the rear panel next to modern DP and USB-C outputs, so the old screen and a new 4K display can run from the same board.

The Intel Atom x7433RE (Amston Lake) has four cores at 1.5 to 3.4 GHz within a 9 W TDP. That is enough for an HMI runtime, a historian and a remote access service running together, with less heat to move than the eight-core build. Memory is one DDR5 4800 MHz SO-DIMM of up to 16 GB, and Intel UHD Graphics drives the DP++ output at up to 4K 60 Hz, the VGA output at up to 2048 x 1536 and a USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode.

Two 2.5GbE ports on Intel I226IT controllers link the panel to the plant network and a separate machine network. There are three rear USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, four internal USB 2.0 headers, six COM ports on headers (two RS-232/422/485, four RS-232) and 8-bit DIO. Three M.2 slots take a cellular module with Nano SIM, a Wi-Fi card and DFI’s optional display module, with a PCIe x4 slot and two SATA ports alongside.

The ASL171-CT-x7433RE runs from 12 V DC on a barrel connector or 4-pin header, operates from -40 to 85 °C fanless and carries CE, FCC, UKCA and RoHS compliance. For more parallel work, ASL171-CT-x7835RE doubles the core count at 12 W. For a standard-temperature site, ASL171-CB-N150 offers four cores at 6 W with DP and HDMI.
