DFI ASL253-x7835RE Intel Atom x7835RE 4″ Embedded Board with 9 to 36 V DC Input and -40 to 80 °C

An edge gateway on a production line or a roadside cabinet tends to collect jobs over its life: Modbus polling, an MQTT broker, a local historian, a VPN and, later, an analytics container. Each one wants a core of its own. The ASL253-x7835RE is the eight-core build in the DFI ASL253 series of 4″ embedded boards, sized for that kind of growing workload, where ASL253-x7433RE is the quad-core option for a fixed, single-purpose role.

Its Intel Atom x7835RE (Amston Lake) runs eight cores at 1.3 to 3.6 GHz. Memory is 16 GB of LPDDR5-4800 soldered to the board, which suits containers and in-memory buffering and removes the SO-DIMM as a vibration risk. Intel UHD Graphics drives an HDMI 1.4b output and an internal eDP or dual-channel LVDS panel connector, and Intel TCC is available for time-sensitive control tasks.

Two 2.5GbE ports on Intel I226 and one GbE port on Intel I210 give separate control, device and uplink networks, with TSN on the 2.5GbE ports as a project option. The six COM ports (two RS-232/422/485 and two RS-232 on DB9, two RS-232 on headers) and 8-bit DIO, selectable in BIOS in place of COM4, reach meters and PLCs directly. Three USB 3.2 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Type-C port, a USB 2.0 header, an M.2 M-key for an SSD, an M.2 E-key for Wi-Fi and an M.2 B-key with SIM for cellular complete the I/O.

The ASL253-x7835RE runs from 9 to 36 V DC on a barrel connector or 4-pin header and operates from -40 to 80 °C with 0.2 m/s airflow over its heatsink. It carries CE and FCC compliance and a TPM 2.0. If the application is a single HMI or converter, ASL253-x7433RE offers the same board with four cores.
