The DFI CMS171 series is a Mini-ITX motherboard for the LGA1200 socket on the Intel Q470E chipset, taking 10th Gen Intel Core, Pentium and Celeron processors at up to 65 W. It runs from 12 V DC and carries 12 rear USB 3.2 ports, dual GbE with Intel vPro, two DP++ outputs and three M.2 slots for Wi-Fi 6, 5G and NVMe. The CMS171 series suits vision and inspection PCs, kiosks and compact edge systems.
- LGA1200 Socket up to 65 W: Takes 10th Gen Intel Core i3 to i9, Pentium and Celeron processors in 65 W E and 35 W TE versions.
- 12 Rear USB 3.2 Ports: Eight USB 3.2 Gen 2 and four further USB 3.2 ports at the rear for cameras, scanners, printers and storage.
- Dual GbE with vPro: GbE on Intel I219LM with vPro and AMT on vPro-capable processors, plus a second GbE port on Intel I211AT.
- Three M.2 and PCIe x16: M.2 E-key for Wi-Fi 6, M-key for NVMe, B-key with SIM holder for LTE or 5G, and a PCIe x16 slot.
- 12 V DC Mini-ITX: A 170 x 170 mm Mini-ITX board on a 12 V DC jack, operating from -5 to 65 °C with CE, FCC, UKCA and RoHS compliance.

CMS171 Description
Vision and inspection systems, self-service kiosks and data-collection PCs often need more USB ports than a Mini-ITX board usually offers: cameras, scanners, printers and storage all compete for them. The DFI CMS171 series answers with 12 USB 3.2 ports on the rear panel of a socketed LGA1200 board of 170 x 170 mm on the Intel Q470E chipset, powered from a single 12 V DC input.
The board accepts 10th Gen Intel Core (Comet Lake) i9, i7, i5 and i3 processors, from four to ten cores, plus two-core Pentium G6400E and Celeron G5900E and G5900TE parts, at up to 65 W TDP. The 35 W TE versions suit enclosures with limited cooling. Two DDR4 2933 MHz SO-DIMMs hold up to 64 GB. Intel UHD Graphics provides hardware HEVC, VP9 and H.264 encode and decode and drives two DP++ outputs at the rear, with two independent 4K displays.
CMS171-Q470E is the only build in the series. Its two GbE ports use an Intel I219LM, with Intel vPro and AMT on vPro-capable processors, and an Intel I211AT. The rear panel carries eight USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, four more USB 3.2 ports and one RS-232/422/485 port on a DB9, and an internal header adds a second RS-232/422/485 port alongside 8-bit DIO.
Three M.2 slots cover wireless, storage and cellular: an E-key (2230) with Intel CNVi support for Wi-Fi 6, an M-key (2280) for NVMe at PCIe Gen3 x4 or SATA, and a B-key (3042/3052) with a SIM holder for 4G LTE or 5G. Two SATA 3.0 ports support RAID 0 and 1, and a PCIe x16 slot with x8 Gen3 signalling takes an add-in card such as a frame grabber or network card. The M-key also supports Intel Optane Memory, and the SIM holder sits on the board beside the B-key, so a cellular link needs no external adapter.
Power arrives at 12 V DC on a DC jack. The board operates from -5 to 65 °C and carries CE, FCC, UKCA and RoHS compliance, with an optional Infineon TPM, a watchdog programmable from 1 to 255 seconds and Realtek ALC888 audio. DFI lists Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2019 and Ubuntu 20.04. For a 15 to 36 V supply, the CMS173 series is the same board with a wide-range input.
