DFI EC700-AL-E3950-2LAN Intel Atom x7-E3950 Low-Profile Embedded PC with Dual GbE and -40 to 70 °C

Outdoor kiosks, ticket machines and depot terminals usually connect more USB devices than networks, and they still face frost and summer heat. The EC700-AL-E3950-2LAN is the build of the DFI EC700-AL series for that mix: a low-profile fanless embedded PC with an Intel Atom x7-E3950, four USB 3.0 ports, two GbE ports and four COM ports.

The Atom x7-E3950 runs four Apollo Lake cores within a 12 W TDP, which suits kiosk software, HMI front ends and data logging. Memory fits one 204-pin DDR3L SO-DIMM, up to 8 GB in total. Intel HD Graphics drives two displays, and the EC700-AL-E3950-2LAN runs Windows 10 IoT or Linux, as DFI states for Apollo Lake.

Networking is two Intel I210 GbE ports on RJ45, with four USB 3.0 Type-A ports, four RS-232/422/485 ports on DB9 and one DisplayPort output at up to 4096×2160 at 60 Hz and one VGA at up to 1920×1200. Storage is a 2.5-inch SATA bay and a full-size mSATA slot. A full-size Mini PCIe slot with nano-SIM takes an optional 4G module, and an M.2 2230 E key slot takes optional Wi-Fi, with antenna holes on the front panel.

Power is 9 to 36 V DC on a DC jack. DFI rates the EC700-AL-E3950-2LAN from -40 °C to 70 °C and lists CE, FCC Class A, RoHS, CCC, UL and KC compliance, and it mounts on a wall, a VESA plate or a DIN rail with optional kits. We supply it configured and tested, with memory, storage, the OS image and any 4G or Wi-Fi modules fitted before it ships. The EC700-AL-E3950-4LAN trades two USB ports for four GbE ports, and the EC700-AL-E3940-2LAN pairs the same I/O with the x5-E3940.
