DFI EHL253-J6412 Intel Celeron J6412 4″ x86 SBC with 9 to 36 V DC Input and Triple LAN

A test rig or indoor machine controller often needs more USB than networking: a barcode scanner, a camera, a USB instrument and a storage stick on the same board. The EHL253-J6412 is the Celeron J6412 build in the DFI EHL253 series of 4″ SBCs, and it trades one GbE port for two extra USB 3.1 ports compared with its sibling.

Its Intel Celeron J6412 (Elkhart Lake) has four cores at 2.0 GHz, bursting to 2.6 GHz, with a 10 W TDP, enough for HMI software, data collection and protocol conversion. The board carries 4 or 8 GB of soldered DDR4 plus one DDR4 3200 MHz SO-DIMM slot, up to 32 GB in total. Intel UHD Graphics drives a rear DP++ output and a VGA header, two independent displays, with hardware decode for H.264, H.265 and VP9.

Networking is one 2.5GbE port on an Intel I225 controller with Time-Sensitive Networking, plus two GbE ports on Intel I210 or I211 controllers. Four rear USB 3.1 Type-A ports and three internal USB 2.0 connections handle peripherals. Two RS-232/422/485 ports on DB9 connectors, two RS-232 headers and 8-bit DIO connect PLCs, drives and sensors. An M.2 M-key (2280) takes a SATA SSD, an M.2 E-key takes Wi-Fi, an M.2 B-key takes a cellular module with dual Nano-SIM slots, and a SATA 3.0 port adds a drive.

The EHL253-J6412 runs from 9 to 36 V DC on a barrel jack or 4-pin connector and operates from 0 to 80 °C with active fan cooling, carrying CE and FCC compliance, TPM 2.0 and a 1 to 255 second watchdog. Where the cabinet is unheated or the network needs a fourth port, the EHL253-x6425RE adds a third GbE port, in-band ECC and operation from -40 to 80 °C.
