DFI MTH556-ECN-255U 12-Core Intel Core Ultra 7 255U 3.5″ Single Board Computer with 9 to 36 V DC Input and Wide Temperature

Line-side analytics nodes and building controllers that aggregate several subsystems are often judged on response time as much as on how many tasks they run. The MTH556-ECN-255U is the Arrow Lake Core Ultra 7 build of the DFI MTH556 series, a 3.5″ single board computer that pairs the highest turbo clock in the series with a 15 W TDP and wide temperature operation from -20 to 70 °C.

The Intel Core Ultra 7 255U is a Core Ultra Series 2 (Arrow Lake) processor with 12 cores and a 15 W TDP, running from 2.0 GHz up to 5.2 GHz. Integrated Intel graphics decodes and encodes AV1, HEVC, VP9 and AVC in hardware. Two DDR5 SO-DIMM sockets take up to 96 GB at 5600 MHz, so memory can be sized at build time for virtual machines, containers or in-memory data.

Displays run from HDMI at up to 4096 x 2160, USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode at up to 4096 x 2304 at 60 Hz and an internal dual-channel LVDS connector, three screens in total. Two 2.5GbE ports on Intel I226LM and I226V controllers, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, two internal USB 2.0 ports, two RS-232/422/485 ports, two RS-232 ports and 8-bit DIO handle networks and field devices. Three M.2 sockets take a PCIe Gen4 x4 SSD, a 4G or 5G modem with nano SIM, and Wi-Fi.

Power is 9 to 36 V DC on a 4-pin connector, and the MTH556-ECN-255U operates from -20 to 70 °C with the active cooler DFI supplies. Windows 11 and 10 IoT Enterprise 64-bit and Linux are supported, with TPM 2.0 and CE, FCC, UKCA, KC and RoHS compliance. The MTH556-ECN-155U offers a Meteor Lake Core Ultra 7 at the same rating, and the MTH556-BCN-165H adds four more cores and Arc graphics at 28 W for indoor use.
