DFI VC700-ASL-x7835RE-8G 8-Core Intel Atom x7835RE Rugged Embedded PC with 8GB, M12 LAN and -40 to 70 °C

Bus and coach fleets increasingly run ticketing, passenger information, CCTV and telematics on one ITxPT network, and the computer at the centre has to cope from a cold depot morning to a hot summer route. The VC700-ASL-x7835RE-8G is the top Atom build of the DFI VC700-ASL series, a rugged embedded PC with GNSS, a 9-axis IMU, DFI out-of-band management and ITxPT listed among its approvals.

The Atom x7835RE (Amston Lake) has eight cores at 1.3 to 3.6 GHz and 12 W, paired here with 8 GB of LPDDR5-5200 soldered down. That suits several services or camera streams running together. Intel HD graphics with up to 32 execution units drive two 4K displays, storage is removable 64 GB or 128 GB eMMC, and TPM 2.0 is built in. DFI out-of-band (OOB) management gives remote power on/off, reset and BIOS update over the network, without an OS agent. It runs Windows 11 or Ubuntu 22.04.

Both GbE ports (Intel I210) use M12 X-coded connectors, one shared with OOB, beside four USB 3.2 Type-A, HDMI 1.4b and DP++. The rear carries two RS-232/422/485 ports and two CAN 2.0B ports with J1939 on DB9 (CAN FD by request), isolated 8-bit DIO at 2.5 kV, a 10 W speaker amplifier and line-out/mic-in. M.2 slots take optional 4G/5G (with nano SIM), optional Wi-Fi and an NVMe or SATA SSD, beside two mini PCIe slots and Fakra antenna connectors. The onboard u-blox NEO-M9N receiver tracks GPS, QZSS, Galileo, GLONASS and BeiDou, with dead reckoning on request.

Power is 9 to 36 V DC on a three-pole terminal block with ignition control. The VC700-ASL-x7835RE-8G runs fanless from -40 °C to 70 °C, is shock and vibration tested to MIL-STD-810G and wall mounts; DFI lists CE, FCC, E-Mark (E24) compliance, ITxPT, RoHS and UKCA. We supply it configured and tested, with storage, the OS image and any 4G/5G or Wi-Fi module fitted. The VC700-ASL-x7835RE-4G has the same processor with 4 GB, and the VC700-ASL-x7835RE-8G-SSD adds two swappable 2.5″ SSD bays.
