DFI WL171-NE-8365UE Quad-Core Intel Core i5-8365UE Mini-ITX SBC with Dual GbE and -20 to 70 °C

Fleets of kiosks, HMIs and gateways spread across a site or a region are easier to run when each board can be reached remotely, even if the operating system has stopped responding. The WL171-NE-8365UE is the Core i5 build in the DFI WL171 series of Mini-ITX SBCs, with Intel vPro and AMT, a 12 V DC input and a -20 to 70 °C rating.

The Intel Core i5-8365UE (Whiskey Lake) has four cores at 1.6 GHz, bursting to 4.1 GHz, with 6 MB of cache in a 15 W TDP. It suits an HMI with trending, a local database and protocol services side by side. Two DDR4 2400 MHz SO-DIMM slots take up to 32 GB. Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives three independent displays across two rear DP++ outputs at up to 4096 x 2304 at 60 Hz and a dual-channel LVDS header, so an operator panel and a second screen run from one board.

The Intel I219LM GbE port carries vPro and AMT for out-of-band management, and an Intel I210AT provides the second GbE port. Four rear USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports and four internal USB 2.0 headers cover peripherals, while one RS-232/422/485 and one RS-232 port on internal headers plus 8-bit DIO reach field devices. An M.2 M-key with PCIe x4 takes an NVMe SSD, an M.2 E-key (2230) takes Wi-Fi, two SATA 3.0 ports support RAID 0, 1 and 5, and a PCIe x4 Gen3 slot takes an add-in card.

The WL171-NE-8365UE runs from 12 V DC on a barrel connector or 4-pin header and operates from -20 to 70 °C, with a discrete TPM 2.0 to protect keys and credentials. For the highest clock speeds in the series, WL171-NE-8665UE steps up to the Core i7-8665UE. For fixed indoor installations that don’t need vPro, WL171-NB-4305UE uses the dual-core Celeron 4305UE.
