Compact inspection heads and mobile robots often need Orin NX speed without the 16GB memory tier. The DSBOARD-ORNXS-AB8 fits the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 8GB module to the Forecr DSBOARD-ORNXS compact carrier board.
The Orin NX 8GB delivers 70 TOPS from an Ampere GPU and a 6-core Arm Cortex-A78AE CPU, with 8 GB of LPDDR5, and Forecr lists Super Mode support for up to 117 TOPS. The DSBOARD-ORNXS-AB16 steps up to the 16GB module, and the DSBOARD-ORNXS-AC8 fits the Orin Nano 8GB. Cameras connect to two 22-pin 0.5 mm FPC connectors, each a 4-lane MIPI CSI-2 input. GMSL2 is not on the carrier; Forecr’s Rev 2.0 manual for this board lists its GMSL-NX add-on board for up to eight GMSL2 cameras with power over coax.
On the DSBOARD-ORNXS-AB8, two Gigabit Ethernet ports and two USB 2.0 ports sit on board connectors, which suits compact enclosures that route cables internally. A Mini DisplayPort drives displays at up to 3840 x 2160, and a USB 3.0 Type-C port serves recovery. The CAN bus has its own board connector, and there is no RS232/422/485 port, so serial needs come through the UART lines on the expansion header. Storage is an M.2 Key-M 2230 NVMe slot, and an M.2 Key-E 2230 socket takes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The DSBOARD-ORNXS-AB8 takes 9-28 V DC on a 2-pin Molex Micro-Fit header, weighs 43 g on its 60.5 x 91 mm board and is rated from -25 to +85 °C, and it has an RTC and a 5 V fan header. Forecr lists Ubuntu 20.04 and 22.04 with JetPack 5.x and 6.x.
