Neousys PCIe-PoE550X 2-Port 10GbE 802.3at PoE+ Frame Grabber Card

The PCIe-PoE550X is the PoE+ build in the Neousys PCIe-550X series, a 10GbE frame grabber card with two 10GBASE-T ports on an Intel X550-AT2 controller, each delivering up to 25.5 W of 802.3at PoE+. It suits machine vision and video analytics systems running high-resolution industrial cameras.

  • Two 10GBASE-T Ports: An Intel X550-AT2 controller runs both RJ45 ports at 10 Gbit/s, so each high-resolution camera gets its own full-speed link.
  • 802.3at PoE+ per Port: Each port delivers up to 25.5 W, with 51 W maximum for powered devices, so each camera runs from a single cable.
  • Gen3 PCIe x4 Host Link: A Gen3 PCI Express x4 interface carries the traffic from both 10G ports into the host computer.
  • NBASE-T and GbE Fallback: The ports also link at 5G, 2.5G and 1000BASE-T, which lets the card work with existing Gigabit cameras and cabling.
  • Sync and Power Control: IEEE 1588, 15.5 KB jumbo frames, NIC teaming and per-port PoE+ on/off via API support timed capture and camera power cycling.

PCIe-PoE550X Overview

High-resolution industrial cameras produce more data than a Gigabit link can carry, and each one still needs power at the far end of its cable. The PCIe-PoE550X handles both on a single card. It is the PoE+ build in the Neousys PCIe-550X series, a 10GbE frame grabber card that puts 802.3at power and 10 Gbit/s data on the same RJ45 port, so one cable per camera does the job.

Two 10GBASE-T ports run from an Intel X550-AT2 controller, which supports 15.5 KB jumbo frames, NIC teaming and IEEE 1588. The card follows IEEE 802.3an for 10GBASE-T, IEEE 802.3bz for NBASE-T and IEEE 802.3ab for 1000BASE-T, so each port links at 10G, 5G, 2.5G or 1G to suit the camera. At 10G it reaches 100 metres over CAT 6a or 55 metres over CAT 6; 5G runs 100 metres over CAT 6 and 2.5G runs 100 metres over CAT 5e. The host link is Gen3 PCI Express x4.

Each port delivers up to 25.5 W under IEEE 802.3at-2009, with a maximum of 51 W for powering PoE+ devices, and software can switch power on or off per port through an API. Neousys specifies CAT 6a cable for PoE+ operation. That combination suits high-speed, high-definition industrial cameras, and Neousys also names high-performance WiFi access points. Where the cameras bring their own power, the PCIe-10G550X is the same card without PoE; for four 5GBASE-T PoE+ ports, see the PCIe-PoE464at. Our FAQ on 10GbE networking covers the basics.

The card draws a maximum of 11.5 W for 2x 10GbE operation, on top of the PoE+ power it delivers. It operates from 0 to 60 °C with airflow, so the host chassis needs to move air across its heat sink, and it measures 168 x 111.2 mm. EMC compliance is CE Class A to EN 55024/55032 and FCC Class A to Part 15, Subpart B, with IEC 61000-4-x Level 3 immunity. Neousys lists machine vision and surveillance video analytics as its target uses. We fit the card to machine vision systems we build, or supply it for your own host.

Official Neousys UK Distributor

Things Embedded is an official Neousys UK distributor, supplying the PCIe-PoE550X for UK machine vision programmes. Within the Neousys range the PCIe-PoE464at gives four 5GBASE-T PoE+ ports for more cameras per slot, and the PCIe-NX154 series adds an onboard Jetson module to run inference on the card.

With 10GbE and PoE+ on each port, the PCIe-PoE550X sits among our PoE PCIe cards and our wider range of machine vision frame grabbers. Where two high-resolution cameras need full 10 Gbit/s links and power over the same cable, this is the card to specify.
