Neousys POC-40 Intel Atom Elkhart Lake Ultra-Compact Embedded PCs

Data collection and gateway jobs rarely need much processing, but they do need a computer that fits beside a PLC, survives a vehicle and talks to serial devices. The Neousys POC-40 series answers with ultra-compact embedded PCs that measure just 52 x 89 x 112 mm, close to the footprint of a Pico-ITX board, and weigh 0.6 kg. Built on Intel Atom Elkhart Lake processors on a 10 nm process, the POC-40 series runs fanless and mounts on a DIN rail as standard.

Both models take up to 32 GB of DDR4-3200 in one SODIMM slot, with Intel UHD Graphics driving a DisplayPort output at 4096 x 2160 and 60 Hz, and fTPM 2.0. The panel carries two Intel I210 GbE ports, two USB 3.1 Gen1 ports, two USB 2.0 ports and four COM ports, and storage is an M.2 2280 M key SATA socket. An M.2 E key socket takes a Wi-Fi 5 or Wi-Fi 6 module, and power comes in on a 4-pin terminal block for 12 to 20V DC, with ignition power control as an ordering option.

The two models target different jobs. The POC-40 uses the dual-core Atom x6211E at 6W, with one RS-232/422/485 port and three RS-232 ports, an M.2 B key socket with SIM for 5G or 4G modules, and fanless operation from -25°C to 70°C. Isolated DIO is optional on the POC-40-DIO version. The POC-40+ moves to the quad-core Atom x6413E at 9W, adds 4-channel isolated DI and DO and an isolated RS-422/485 port as standard, and swaps the M.2 B key socket for a full-size mini-PCIe socket with SIM, with operation from -25°C to 60°C.

In practice POC-40 ultra-compact embedded PCs suit factory data collection, IoT and mobile gateways, small machine controllers and rugged edge nodes in cabinets and vehicles. MIL-STD-810G vibration and shock testing and CE/FCC Class A apply across the POC-40 series, and a vertical wall-mount kit is available where DIN rail is not used. Neousys rates the POC-40 at 1.9 times the computing performance of its earlier POC-200 at half the size, which suits upgrades of older gateway installs.
