RPM-450 Overview
A 12 V or 24 V vehicle supply can drop sharply during engine cranking and swing above its nominal value under load, and a GPU computer that resets every time the voltage dips loses data and uptime. The Neousys RPM-450 is a DC-DC voltage regulator that sits between the vehicle or plant supply and the computer: it accepts anything from 9 to 32 V and delivers a steady 13.8 V at up to 33 A, which is 450 W.
It is a buck-boost converter, so it steps the voltage up when the input sags as low as 9 V and down when it rises toward 32 V, holding the output within ±1% with 120 mV ripple and noise. Neousys quotes 94 to 96% efficiency, with 94% at the full 13.8 V and 33 A rating, which keeps self-heating low enough for fanless operation from -25 °C to 70 °C. An onboard MCU monitors the input with millisecond response, and three front LEDs show DC-IN Sensed, UV/OV Alert and Regulator Output ON.
Protection covers the common wiring and supply faults. The RPM-450 shuts down below 8.5 V and above 34 V and recovers by itself at 8.9 V and 32.3 V. Overcurrent protection trips at 47 A, a hard short sends it into hiccup mode that it survives for more than two hours, and reverse polarity up to 38 V does no damage; both overcurrent and short-circuit faults clear with a power cycle.
Input and output connect with O or Y ring terminals on M3.5 screws, and Neousys recommends short cable runs to limit voltage drop. The RPM-450 measures 95 x 144.1 x 41.2 mm, weighs 0.8 kg, mounts on a wall as standard or on a DIN rail with an optional bracket, and meets CE and FCC Class A. Neousys designed it to keep GPU computers in vehicles running, such as the Nuvo-10108GC series and SEMIL-2000GC series.
