Nexcom X101-J3455-E 3.5″ SBC with Intel Celeron J3455, Dual HDMI Plus eDP and Mini-PCIe with SIM

A multimedia panel or signage display often needs its own eDP screen plus two external monitors, from a board that runs on a battery or small adapter. The X101-J3455-E is Nexcom’s 3.5 inch SBC on the Intel Celeron J3455 for that kind of design, with two HDMI outputs, an eDP panel interface and a choice of 12 V or 19 V DC input.

The onboard Intel Celeron J3455 is an Apollo Lake processor with a 10 W TDP, which suits thin-client sessions, multimedia playback and home automation software. One 204-pin DDR3L-1600 non-ECC SO-DIMM socket takes up to 8 GB. Two HDMI 1.4b outputs run at up to 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz, and the eDP interface drives a built-in panel, with LVDS as an option and a 4-way switch to set the panel resolution, so one board can run three screens.

I/O covers two Gigabit Ethernet ports on Realtek RTL8111H controllers with wake on LAN, two USB 3.0 and four USB 2.0 ports, one RS-232/422/485 port and one RS-232 port with RI, 5 V or 12 V, four GPIO lines and Realtek ALC3236 audio with a 2 W 4 ohm speaker-out header plus mic-in and line-out. Storage is an M.2 2242 Key M socket, and a full-size mini-PCIe slot supports Wi-Fi and LTE modules with a nano SIM slot onboard. A watchdog timer is included. The X100-J3455-P is the same processor with one HDMI and LVDS, and the X102-N97 moves to Intel Alder Lake-N with two 2.5GbE ports.

Power is 12 V or 19 V DC on a 2-pin connector, with AT or ATX mode set by jumper. The X101-J3455-E operates from 0 to 60 °C ambient and handles 10 to 90% operating humidity and 5 to 95% non-operating, non-condensing. The board measures 146 x 102 mm in the 3.5 inch form factor and carries CE and FCC Class A marks. Nexcom does not list operating systems for this board on the datasheet.
