Nexcom X302 Mini-ITX Motherboards for 8th and 9th Gen Intel Core with Six COM Ports

Industrial test equipment and measurement machines connect to instruments, controllers and barcode readers over serial, show results on a local panel and often sit on a shop floor where knocks and vibration are part of the day. The Nexcom X302 series is a Mini-ITX motherboard built for that work, with an LGA1151 socket for 8th and 9th Gen Intel Core processors, six COM ports and shock and vibration ratings to IEC 60068.

Every X302 shares the same layout. Nexcom lists Core i3, i5 and i7 processors from the Coffee Lake and Coffee Lake Refresh families at 35 W and 65 W, all with Intel UHD Graphics 630, and two DDR4-2666 non-ECC SO-DIMM sockets take up to 32 GB. VGA up to 1920 x 1200 and HDMI 1.4 up to 4096 x 2160 at 30 Hz sit on the edge, with an internal dual-channel LVDS connector up to 1920 x 1200 and eDP by request. Serial I/O is three RS-232/422/485 ports on DB9 connectors and three RS-232 headers with 5 V or 12 V by jumper. The rest covers two Gigabit Ethernet ports on Intel I219-LM and I211-AT, four USB 3.0 on the edge, 8-channel GPIO, Realtek ALC888 audio, a watchdog timer and an onboard TPM 2.0 IC. Expansion is a PCIe x16 slot, M.2 Key E for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and M.2 Key B 2242/3042 with a SIM holder for an SSD or LTE module, plus two SATA ports.

The X302-Q370 adds six internal USB 2.0 and Intel AMT support for remote management, while the X302-H310 has three internal USB 2.0 and a SATA-only M.2 Key B. Both keep the six COM ports, the PCIe x16 slot and the display set.

Power is +12 V DC on an ATX 4-pin connector, with AT or ATX mode set by jumper. The series operates from -5 to 60 °C under IEC 60068-2-1, -2-2 and -2-14, stores from -20 to 80 °C and handles humidity up to 95%, non-condensing. It is tested to 50 G peak shock for 11 ms under IEC 60068-2-27 and to 2 Grms random and 2 G sinusoidal vibration at 5 to 500 Hz. The boards are 170 x 170 mm, support Windows 10 64-bit and Linux, and carry CE approval and an FCC Class A mark. Nexcom names industrial testing equipment and measurement machines as target applications, with the LVDS connector for kiosk panels.
