Vecow PE-2004 Intel i210 4-Port Gigabit PoE+ PCIe Expansion Card with PTP

The PE-2004 is the four-port build in the Vecow PE-2000 series, a PoE+ card with four Gigabit RJ45 ports, each on its own Intel I210 controller, IEEE 802.3at at up to 25.5 W per port and a PCI Express x4 interface. It suits vision and surveillance systems that power four IP cameras.

  • Four Gigabit PoE+ Ports: Four 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports, each on its own Intel I210 controller, give every camera a dedicated link.
  • IEEE 802.3at PoE+: Each port supplies up to 25.5 W at 48 V DC, so four cameras take power and data over one cable each.
  • IEEE 1588 PTP: Hardware support for IEEE 1588 PTP lets the host time-align frames from all four cameras.
  • Optional Isolated DIO Module: An optional 16-channel isolated DIO module adds eight digital inputs and eight digital outputs to the card.
  • -25 to 70 °C Operation: The card operates from -25 to 70 °C and stores from -40 to 85 °C, with CE, FCC and RoHS listed.

PE-2004 Overview

A multi-camera inspection cell or a road-side cabinet with four IP cameras needs power and data for each, ideally without a separate PoE switch. The PE-2004 is the four-port build in the Vecow PE-2000 series, a PCI Express PoE+ card that powers four devices directly from the host. We fit it to systems we build where four cameras report to one computer.

The card carries four Gigabit RJ45 ports on 8-pin connectors, and each port has its own Intel I210 controller at 10/100/1000 Mbps, so no camera shares a controller with another. The host interface is PCI Express x4. The controllers support 9.5KB jumbo frames for large image packets, together with link aggregation and teaming for failover or combined links.

All four ports comply with IEEE 802.3at and supply up to 25.5 W at 48 V DC per port. Vecow does not state a total budget, so we size the 12 V feed against the camera loads, and our PoE power budgeting white paper walks through that sum. IEEE 1588 PTP keeps the four streams time-aligned. Options include a 16-channel isolated DIO module (8 in, 8 out). The PE-2002 is the two-port build and the PE-2004MX moves four I210 ports to M12.

PoE power comes from one 4-pin 12 V connector on the card. Vecow rates the PE-2004 from -25 to 70 °C operating and -40 to 85 °C storage, and lists CE, FCC and RoHS compliance. The board measures 168 x 121 x 21 mm in a full-height slot. The datasheet does not list operating system support, so we check drivers against the chosen host.

Official Vecow UK Distributor

Things Embedded is an official Vecow UK distributor, supplying the PE-2004 for UK surveillance and machine vision programmes. Within the Vecow range the PE-2004MX carries the same four-port I210 design on X-coded M12 connectors, and the PE-6004 raises each port to 2.5GbE.

As a four-port PoE+ card the PE-2004 sits among our PoE+ camera cards, our frame grabber cards and our add-in cards. Where four PoE+ cameras on RJ45 need a controller each, this is the card to specify.
