Vecow PE-2002 Intel i210 2-Port Gigabit PoE+ PCIe Expansion Card with PTP

The PE-2002 is the two-port build in the Vecow PE-2000 series, a PoE+ card with two Gigabit RJ45 ports, each on its own Intel I210 controller, IEEE 802.3at at up to 25.5 W per port and a PCI Express x4 interface. It suits vision and surveillance systems that power two IP cameras.

  • Two Gigabit PoE+ Ports: Two 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports, each on its own Intel I210 controller, give every camera a dedicated link.
  • IEEE 802.3at PoE+: Each port supplies up to 25.5 W at 48 V DC, so a camera takes power and data over one cable.
  • IEEE 1588 PTP: Hardware support for IEEE 1588 PTP lets the host time-align frames from both cameras.
  • Optional Isolated DIO: An optional 16-channel isolated DIO module (8 in, 8 out) handles triggers and signals next to the cameras.
  • -25 to 70 °C Operation: The card operates from -25 to 70 °C and stores from -40 to 85 °C, with CE, FCC and RoHS listed.

PE-2002 Overview

Two cameras on a machine or a gate need data and power at the far end of each cable, and a separate PoE switch adds another box to the cabinet. The PE-2002 is the two-port build in the Vecow PE-2000 series, a PCI Express PoE+ card that powers two devices straight from the host. We specify it for systems we build where two IP cameras sit close to the computer.

The card carries two Gigabit RJ45 ports on 8-pin connectors, and each port has its own Intel I210 controller running at 10/100/1000 Mbps. The host interface is PCI Express x4. The controllers support 9.5KB jumbo frames for large image packets, and link aggregation and teaming where two links serve one device or failover is wanted.

Both ports comply with IEEE 802.3at and supply up to 25.5 W at 48 V DC per port. IEEE 1588 PTP keeps the two streams time-aligned. Vecow offers an optional 16-channel isolated DIO module, with 8 inputs and 8 outputs. The PE-2004 is the four-port build, and our PoE, PoE+ and PoE++ FAQ explains the 802.3at class.

PoE power comes from one 4-pin 12 V connector on the card. Vecow rates the PE-2002 from -25 to 70 °C operating and -40 to 85 °C storage, and lists CE, FCC and RoHS compliance. The board measures 168 x 121 x 21 mm and takes a full-height slot. The datasheet does not list operating system support, so we confirm driver support for the chosen host when we specify the card.

Official Vecow UK Distributor

Things Embedded is an official Vecow UK distributor, supplying the PE-2002 for UK surveillance and machine vision programmes. Within the Vecow range the PE-2004 doubles the port count on the same design, and the SE-1000 series fits four PoE+ ports into a PCIe x1 slot.

As a two-port PoE+ card the PE-2002 sits among our PoE PCIe cards, our machine vision frame grabbers and our PCIe expansion cards. Where two PoE+ cameras need power and data from one slot, this is the card to specify.
