Vecow PE-8004MX Intel X710-AT2 M12 4-Port 10GbE PoE+ Frame Grabber Card

Fast cameras on vehicles and machinery often arrive on M12 cabling, and at 10GbE an adapter at the host adds another joint to a demanding link. The PE-8004MX is Vecow’s four-port 10GbE PoE+ expansion card with rugged X-coded M12 connectors, a standalone model that keeps M12 to the computer. We fit it to systems we build where four 10GbE cameras use an M12 harness.

The four independent 10GBASE-T ports are driven by Intel X710-AT2 controllers and run at 10 Gbps, 1 Gbps or 100 Mbps, with 5 Gbps and 2.5 Gbps under Linux only. The host interface is PCI Express x8 at PCIe 3.0, up to 8.0 GT/s. The controllers support jumbo frames up to 9728 bytes, 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet, PXE boot and Intel Virtualization Technology.

Every port complies with IEEE 802.3at and supplies up to 25.5 W at 48 V DC, with PoE+ on/off control and four PoE LEDs on the bracket. The PE-2004MX is the Gigabit M12 version, and the PE-5004 carries four 10GBASE-T PoE+ ports on RJ45. Our white paper on industrial M12 connectors covers the connector choice.

PoE power comes from one 4-pin 12 V connector. Two fan-cooled heat sinks sit on the board, and Vecow rates the card from 0 to 50 °C with fan, and from -40 to 85 °C in storage. The board measures 168 x 105 mm with a full-height bracket and meets the standard 14.5 mm PCIe card width. Vecow lists CE and FCC, with Windows 11, Windows 10 and Linux support.
