Winmate FM12E-V 12.1″ IP65 Vehicle Mount Computer with Intel Atom x6425E and PCAP Touch

Drivers read a vehicle screen in glances, so a larger display with keys they can find by feel often matters more than processor speed. The FM12E-V is Winmate’s 12.1 inch vehicle mount computer, pairing an Intel Atom x6425E with a 4:3 touch screen and side-mounted function keys in an IP65 housing.

The Intel Atom x6425E is an Elkhart Lake processor at 2.0 GHz, a good fit for picking screens, terminal emulation and warehouse management clients. It ships with 4 GB of DDR4-3200 (8 GB optional), a 128 GB M.2 SSD (256 GB optional), a microSD slot, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise and TPM 2.0. The 12.1 inch 4:3 display runs at 1024 x 768 with 400 nits as standard and 800 nits as an option, 1000:1 contrast and 178° viewing. Projected capacitive multi-touch works with a stylus and with gloves, and five programmable function keys run down the right-hand bezel within reach of the driver’s thumb.

I/O covers a Gigabit LAN port that can be specified as a 30 W IEEE 802.3at PSE to power a camera, USB Type-C and USB 2.0 ports, and two RS-232/422/485 ports on DB9 with 5 V on pin 9 for serial scanners, with CANBus and two-in, two-out DIDO as options. WLAN and Bluetooth are built in, with 4G/LTE on a dual nano-SIM slot and GPS/GLONASS as options. The FM12AD-V steps up to a Core i5-1235U in the same size, and the FM14E-V keeps the Atom behind a 14 inch bonded widescreen.

Power is 10 to 60 V DC with ignition control, covering 12, 24 and 48 V vehicle supplies. An optional 400 mAh UPS battery keeps the computer running for 20 minutes when the vehicle supply drops out. The IP65 waterproof and dustproof enclosure measures 306.6 x 225 x 56.6 mm, weighs 2.4 kg and fits RAM or VESA mounts. It operates from -30 to 50 °C at 5 to 90% humidity, is compliant with MIL-STD-810H Methods 516.8 and 514.8, and carries an IK07 impact rating. The unit carries CE and FCC marks, with UL60950-1, EN60950-1, PTCRB and IC (ICES-003) listed.
