12G-SDI Repeater Overview
12G-SDI carries 4K60 on one cable, but the signal degrades over long runs between stage and gallery, camera position and rack, or one floor and the next. The Yuan 12G-SDI Repeater is designed for those runs in broadcast, live production and pro AV work. The 12G-SDI Repeater is a single-channel reclocking amplifier that restores the signal partway along the path.
There is one 12G-SDI input and one 12G-SDI output, with the output carrying the input format unchanged. On 12G-SDI it handles 4096 x 2160p and 3840 x 2160p at 60 and 50 fps, and on 6G-SDI the same resolutions at 30, 25 and 24 fps. It also accepts 3G-SDI at 1080p60/50, including Level A, Level B Dual Link and Level B Dual Stream, HD-SDI at 1080p30, 1080i and 720p, and SD-SDI at 480i and 576i. Eight channels of 24-bit, 48 kHz embedded audio pass through.
The repeater detects the source format automatically, is plug and play and runs from a 7.5V to 15V DC input in a small inline housing. For HD-only runs, the SDI Repeater does the same job at up to 1080p60 with 16 audio channels. When one 4K feed needs to reach several destinations, the 12G-SDI Splitter reclocks it to four outputs instead. For runs of several kilometres at HD, the SDI to Optical Fiber sends 3G-SDI over single-mode fibre.
In practice the repeater is placed where the cable run would otherwise exceed what the signal can tolerate. We supply the 12G-SDI Repeater configured and tested with the sources, displays and cabling it will connect to, so the full path is checked before installation.
