12G-SDI Splitter Overview
In a 4K production chain a single camera, server or switcher output often needs to feed a monitor, a recorder, a capture PC and an onward link at the same time. The Yuan 12G-SDI Splitter is designed for that fan-out in broadcast, live production and pro AV work. The 12G-SDI Splitter is a one-in, four-out reclocking distribution amplifier that keeps every copy at full quality.
There is one 12G-SDI input and four 12G-SDI outputs, each passing the input format through. On 12G-SDI it handles 4096 x 2160p and 3840 x 2160p at 60 and 50 fps; on 6G-SDI the same resolutions at 30, 25 and 24 fps. It also accepts 3G-SDI at 1080p60/50, including Level A, Level B Dual Link and Level B Dual Stream, HD-SDI at 1080p30, 1080i and 720p, and SD-SDI at 480i and 576i. Eight channels of 24-bit, 48 kHz embedded audio travel with the picture, and each output is reclocked and amplified to restore the signal.
The unit is plug and play, detects the incoming format automatically and runs from a 7.5V to 15V DC input in a compact housing. For HD-only chains, the SDI Splitter covers 3G-SDI at 1080p60 and carries up to 16 audio channels. When a 4K feed needs reclocking on a long run rather than splitting, the 12G-SDI Repeater does that with one output, and the SC720N4 12G-SDI PCIe card can capture up to four 12G-SDI feeds into one recording PC.
In practice the splitter sits close to the source in the rack. We supply the 12G-SDI Splitter configured and tested with the sources, displays and recorders it will feed, so it goes into the chain ready to use.
