When a capture PC is added to an existing installation, the source usually still has to reach its own monitor. The SC542N1-L HDV is Yuan’s PCIe DVI video capture card for that layout, taking a DVI-I, YPbPr, S-Video or composite input and passing it straight on through matching loop-through outputs while the host records.
DVI signals are captured at up to 1920 x 1200p and 1920 x 1080p at 60/50 fps, along with 1080i, 720p and PC timings down to 640 x 480. YPbPr runs up to 1080p60/50, and composite and S-Video take 720 x 480i and 720 x 576i. Colour formats for capture and preview are 8-bit RGB24 and RGB32 at 4:4:4, YUY2 at 4:2:2, and YV12 and NV12 at 4:2:0. Embedded audio is captured as stereo 16-bit at 32 to 48 kHz. On-board processing handles cropping and scaling, auto signal detection and deinterlacing. There is no built-in hardware encoder, so any encoding is left to the host software.
The card uses a PCIe x1 Gen2 link. Software support runs through Yuan’s Windows and Linux SDK and standard DirectShow and V4L2 drivers, and Yuan names vMix, OBS, Zoom, Skype, Teams, Discord, Slack, Cisco Webex and GoToMeeting as compatible. The SC542N1-L HDAV trades DVI-I for an HDMI input, and the SC542N2 HDV captures two DVI-I sources at once.
Operating system support covers Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10, Linux from kernel 2.6.14 in 32-bit and 64-bit builds, Linux on ARM, and NVIDIA Jetson TX2, Nano, AGX Xavier and Xavier NX modules. The board measures 135.01 x 68.95 mm and carries 16 GPIO lines and a watchdog. Yuan lists multi-device and multi-instance support, for hosts that run more than one card or capture session.
