PCI ExpressSC542N2-L Hybrid Overview
Recording a presenter on an SDI camera alongside the slides from a computer, or a process camera beside an operator screen, needs two different signal types captured together. The SC542N2-L Hybrid is Yuan’s 2-channel PCIe SDI and DVI frame grabber for that pairing, with one SDI input and one DVI-I input on separate channels.
The SDI channel captures up to 1920 x 1080p at 60/50 fps, with HD-SDI and SD-SDI formats also listed, and the DVI-I channel captures up to 1920 x 1200p and 1920 x 1080p at 60/50 fps along with 1080i, 720p and PC timings. Capture and preview formats cover RGB24 and RGB32 at 4:4:4, YUY2 at 4:2:2, and YV12 and NV12 at 4:2:0, all at 8-bit. Two embedded audio channels are captured as stereo 16-bit at 32 to 48 kHz. On-board processing handles cropping and scaling, auto signal detection and deinterlacing. There is no built-in hardware encoder, so any encoding is left to the host software.
The card uses a PCIe x1 Gen2 link. Software support runs through Yuan’s Windows and Linux SDK and standard DirectShow and V4L2 drivers, and Yuan names vMix, OBS, Zoom, Skype, Teams, Discord, Slack, Cisco Webex and GoToMeeting as compatible. The SC542N4 HYBRID scales to four SDI channels plus DVI on PCIe x4, and the SC542N2-L SDI captures two SDI feeds with loop-through.
Operating system support covers Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10, Linux from kernel 2.6.14 in 32-bit and 64-bit builds, Linux on ARM, and NVIDIA Jetson TX2, Nano, AGX Xavier and Xavier NX modules. The board measures 122.3 x 68.9 mm and carries 16 GPIO lines and a watchdog. Yuan lists multi-device and multi-instance support, for hosts that run more than one card or capture session.
