PCI ExpressSC542N4 SDI Overview
A four-camera SDI system, whether for a live stream, a production gallery or a monitored site, needs every feed captured in step from as few slots as possible. The SC542N4 SDI is Yuan’s 4-channel PCIe SDI capture card for that job, with four SDI inputs on one PCIe x4 card.
Each channel captures SDI up to 1920 x 1080p at 60/50 fps, with HD-SDI at 1080p30/25/24, 1080i60/50 and 720p60/50, and SD-SDI at 720 x 480i and 720 x 576i. Capture and preview formats cover RGB24 and RGB32 at 4:4:4, YUY2 at 4:2:2, and YV12 and NV12 at 4:2:0, all at 8-bit. Four embedded audio channels are captured as stereo 16-bit at 32 to 48 kHz. On-board processing handles cropping and scaling, auto signal detection and deinterlacing. There is no built-in hardware encoder, so any encoding is left to the host software.
The card uses a PCIe x4 Gen2 link. Software support runs through Yuan’s Windows and Linux SDK and standard DirectShow and V4L2 drivers, and Yuan names vMix, OBS, Zoom, Skype, Teams, Discord, Slack, Cisco Webex and GoToMeeting as compatible. The SC542N4-L SDI takes four SDI feeds on a shallower 65.95 mm board, and the SC542N8 SDI doubles up to eight SDI channels.
Operating system support covers Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10, Linux from kernel 2.6.14 in 32-bit and 64-bit builds, Linux on ARM, and NVIDIA Jetson TX2, Nano, AGX Xavier and Xavier NX modules. The board measures 140.51 x 101.01 mm and carries 16 GPIO lines and a watchdog. Yuan lists multi-device and multi-instance support, for hosts that run more than one card or capture session.
