Compact recording PCs often have the PCIe x4 slot for a multi-channel card but not the height for a tall one. The SC542N4-L SDI is Yuan’s 4-channel PCIe SDI video capture card built on a 65.95 mm tall board, bringing four SDI inputs to that kind of chassis.
Each channel captures SDI up to 1920 x 1080p at 60/50 fps, with HD-SDI at 1080p30/25/24, 1080i60/50 and 720p60/50, and SD-SDI at 720 x 480i and 720 x 576i. Colour formats for capture and preview are 8-bit RGB24 and RGB32 at 4:4:4, YUY2 at 4:2:2, and YV12 and NV12 at 4:2:0. Four embedded audio channels are captured as stereo 16-bit at 32 to 48 kHz. On-board processing handles cropping and scaling, auto signal detection and deinterlacing. There is no built-in hardware encoder, so any encoding is left to the host software.
The card uses a PCIe x4 Gen2 link. Yuan provides a Windows and Linux SDK, supports DirectShow and V4L2 software, and lists vMix, OBS, Zoom, Skype, Teams, Discord, Slack, Cisco Webex and GoToMeeting as compatible applications. The SC542N4 SDI carries the same four channels on a taller board with GPIO, and the SC542N2-L SDI captures two SDI feeds with loop-through on PCIe x1.
Yuan supports Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10, Linux 2.6.14 or later in 32-bit and 64-bit form, Linux on ARM, and the NVIDIA Jetson TX2, Nano, AGX Xavier and Xavier NX. The board measures 167.5 x 65.95 mm and includes a watchdog. Yuan lists multi-device and multi-instance support, for hosts that run more than one card or capture session.
