Yuan SC542N8 HDMI PCIe HDMI Capture Card with 8 x HDMI Inputs at 1080p60

Recording a bank of HDMI cameras or a row of operator screens gets expensive in slots and cabling when every source needs its own card. The SC542N8 HDMI is Yuan’s 8-channel PCIe HDMI capture card, bringing eight HDMI inputs onto one PCIe x4 card so each source records on its own channel.

Each channel captures up to 1920 x 1080p at 60/50 fps, and Yuan’s table also lists 1920 x 1200p, 1080i, 720p and PC timings down to 640 x 480. Colour formats for capture and preview are 8-bit RGB24 and RGB32 at 4:4:4, YUY2 at 4:2:2, and YV12 and NV12 at 4:2:0. Eight embedded HDMI audio channels are captured as stereo 16-bit at 32 to 48 kHz. On-board processing handles cropping and scaling, auto signal detection and deinterlacing. There is no built-in hardware encoder, so any encoding is left to the host software.

The card uses a PCIe x4 Gen2 link. Yuan provides a Windows and Linux SDK, supports DirectShow and V4L2 software, and lists vMix, OBS, Zoom, Skype, Teams, Discord, Slack, Cisco Webex and GoToMeeting as compatible applications. The SC542N8 SDI is the 8-channel SDI card on the same size board, and the SC542N4 HDMI captures four HDMI sources.

Yuan supports Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10, Linux 2.6.14 or later in 32-bit and 64-bit form, Linux on ARM, and the NVIDIA Jetson TX2, Nano, AGX Xavier and Xavier NX. The board measures 167.65 x 101.03 mm and carries 16 GPIO lines and a watchdog. Yuan lists multi-device and multi-instance support, for hosts that run more than one card or capture session.
