PCI ExpressSC550N1 Overview
Capture PCs in lecture theatres, test labs and studios rarely know in advance whether the next source will be HDMI, SDI or an older analogue feed. The SC550N1 is Yuan’s all-in-one PCIe HDMI, SDI and DVI frame grabber for that uncertainty, with HDMI, DVI-I, SDI, YPbPr, S-Video and composite inputs feeding one capture channel.
HDMI and DVI signals at 1920 x 1080p at 60/50 fps are captured at full rate, and 1920 x 1200p input is captured at up to 30 fps. SDI covers 1080p60/50, HD-SDI and SD-SDI formats, YPbPr runs up to 1080p60, and composite and S-Video take 720 x 480i and 720 x 576i. Capture and preview formats cover RGB24 and RGB32 at 4:4:4, YUY2 at 4:2:2, and YV12 and NV12 at 4:2:0, all at 8-bit. Embedded audio is captured as stereo 16-bit at 32 to 48 kHz. On-board processing handles cropping and scaling, auto signal detection and deinterlacing. There is no built-in hardware encoder, so any encoding is left to the host software.
The card uses a PCIe x1 Gen1 link on a full height bracket. Yuan provides a Windows and Linux SDK, supports DirectShow and V4L2 software, and lists vMix, OBS, Zoom, Skype, Teams, Discord, Slack, Cisco Webex and GoToMeeting as compatible applications. The SC542N1 carries the same six input types on a Gen2 card with 1920 x 1200p60 capture, and the SC550N1 M2 HDV brings HDMI, DVI-I and YPbPr to an M.2 socket.
Yuan supports Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10, Linux 2.6.14 or later in 32-bit and 64-bit form, Linux on ARM, and the NVIDIA Jetson TX2, Nano, AGX Xavier and Xavier NX. The board measures 111.14 x 101.01 mm and carries 16 GPIO lines and a watchdog. Yuan lists multi-device and multi-instance support, for hosts that run more than one card or capture session.
