SDI-HDMI Cross Overview
Studios, outside broadcast trucks and pro AV rooms often carry SDI cameras and routers alongside HDMI monitors, laptops and recorders. Converting in both directions usually means two boxes. The Yuan SDI-HDMI Cross is an SDI to HDMI converter that also converts HDMI to SDI at the same time, so one unit can sit between the SDI and HDMI sides of a system.
Inputs are one HDMI and one SDI connection. The SDI input handles 3G-SDI at 1920x1080p 60/50, HD-SDI at 1080p 30/25/24, 1080i and 720p, and SD-SDI at 480i and 576i, with 3G-SDI Level A and B and Level B dual link or dual stream input. HDMI input covers the same broadcast formats. Outputs are one HDMI and two SDI, each carrying the input format without scaling. Embedded audio runs at up to eight channels, 24-bit: 48 kHz on SDI and up to 192 kHz on the HDMI input.
The SDI-HDMI Cross is plug and play, with auto source format detection and a 7.5 to 15 V DC input. Yuan lists a power-amplified SDI loop out. Where you need genlock, scaling or analogue audio input, the SDI-HDMI Genlock Cross adds a reference input and up/down/cross conversion. For a single SDI to HDMI path, the SDI to HDMI is the simpler one-direction converter with two loop outputs.
