SDI-HDMI Genlock Cross Overview
In a broadcast or live production facility, a converter that free-runs can drift against the house reference and cause problems downstream. The Yuan SDI-HDMI Genlock Cross is a broadcast video converter that locks to an external black burst or tri-level reference, while scaling and cross-converting between SDI and HDMI.
It has one HDMI input and one SDI input, plus the REF input and a pair of RCA connectors for L/R analogue audio. Outputs are one HDMI, two up/down converted SDI and one SDI loop-through. SDI input covers 3G-SDI at 1080p 60/50, HD-SDI at 1080p 30/25/24, 1080i and 720p, and SD-SDI at 480i and 576i. The HDMI input adds PC formats from 640×480 to 1280×1024 at 60 Hz. Built-in interlacer and de-interlacer, 60 to 59.94 fps conversion and frame rate conversion handle mismatched sources. Embedded audio runs at up to eight channels, 24-bit, 48 kHz, with two channels from the RCA input.
The SDI-HDMI Genlock Cross runs from a 7.5 to 15 V DC input and is plug and play. If you do not need a reference input, the SDI-HDMI Cross converts both directions at once without scaling. For an SDI-only path with frame synchronisation, the SDI to SDI Genlock is the dedicated choice.
